The new Alfa Romeo Giulia

What is everyone's take. I'm seriously starting to like this car. Its priced reasonable, and something different. Who's buying this car? I'm gonna start hanging out at alfa forums doing R&D.

Dang, if I hadn't just bought my M235i a year ago I'd really be looking at one of these. They look pretty dank.

I like the 4 cylinder if they were ever to sell it on the U.S. but realize it's a car enthusiasts expensive toy.
Not sure I could pull the trigger on the Alfa when I could have a 340 or M3.

Have you read the specs and what you're getting for the price? I, for one, love the car. I've seen many reviews and they're all positive. It's compared very favorably to the M3/M4. More HP and a Ferrari derived engine. The only thing that is a concern is long-term reliability with Alfa's. That and no manual for the US.

Which Alfa forum are you looking at?

I also think the Quadrifoglio will give the F80 M3 a good run for its money. I personally like the looks much better than the M3. Chris Harris and Carlos Lago with Jonny Lieberman give the edge to this over the M3.

Yup. I wouldn't spend $70k on an M3 or M4 either. I don't want a manual so that part doesn't bother me, but no 8-10 speed auto does bother me.
I'm with you on the reliability thing. We shall see on that!

The Quadrifolgio, unfortunately, will not come to the US with a manual.

There are a few threads on this car in the M3/M4 versus section if interested:

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1342176
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1164607

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1339030
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1324165

Personally I like the style, sound and reported performance. But concerned about fit and finish, overall reliability, dealer network and residual value / lease pricing.

Watch the GT episode where Clarkson reviews it. Had great things to say. And he called it the Quadripliggio throughout which was hilarious. I felt bad laughing but laughed just the same.

I have been lurking here www.giuliaforums.com

Also, other news the Veloce model is coming to US with a 2.0L with 350Hp to compete with S4,340M, Benz?, Jag XEs. However, automatic and AWD

Cheers

Remains to be seen...I predict it will be get alot of buzz out of the gate. People like new and different, just remains to be seen if Alfa can deliver a passable dealer experience for a $70k+ purchase. Lease terms for the performance model will likely suck but probably won't matter unless they build enough to outstrip early demand.

I think the base model is largely a bore in the same way the base Jag XE is. If we can park our prejudices for a couple seconds you could argue that the Stinger is a better looking base design. Certainly not saying it's a better car.

^thats epic

Obviously if you want reliability, buy a german car.
If you want something full of emotion and style, buy an italian car

I am definitely not interested unless they bring a mid engine (~350hp) option over

Hmm, I'm not sure "reliability" is a word I would use for German cars. Toyota, Honda, Lexus, etc. are reliable, albeit, boring.

It's not worth $70k to me. Neither is an M4. Regardless of maintenance cost.
