They could be spotted during at night and int he day time if you pay attention closely. Some executives will be able to test drive the B7 around fall and winter. Sales would start end of 2009 or early 2010.

Unlike Mercedes-Benz, BMW have different customers than those buying S-class AMGs. BMW believes the M division has already created the ultimate sedan with the M5, the M7 would not change that. Alpina is generally seen as the official tuner for BMW, think of the B7 as the M7. Creating better aerodynamics and tuning the engine a bit, it's sort of what the M division does. BMW has also considered using Alpina's turbo which will be in future models. In general, BMW wants to keep the 7 series' status and an M7 would defy the whole point of BMW's flagship.
Correct. People forget that Alpina is a skunkworks shop just like M. The craftsmanship & attention to detail that exemplifies Alpina is fitting for the 7 series flagship sedan. I can't see the same attention to detail coming out of M.

There are decent amounts of E65 B7's around, but this is the first B7 BiTurbo (F01 model) I have heard of in the states. I could be wrong though.

And too few pictures because he was just getting up there, and I was about to head down.

Alpina is NOT a skunkworks shop. They are not like M. Alpina is a true auto manufacter that just happens to use BMW cars as their starting point. Keep in mind that the Alpina cars do NOT have BMW VIN numbers, they have Alpina VIN numbers.

BMWAG buys the cars from Alpina and resells them to BMWNA. BMWNA then sells the cars to US dealers and we buy them. No skunkworks.

The shots are ok, white balance is blown way out though because of the light conditions up there that day.

If I would have had my car lowered, I probably wouldn't have made it up that road, lol. Plus I might rub on the wheels/tire combo I am running.

Correct. BMW does not own Alpina, unlike the M division. Alpina simply gets new BMWs ahead, tune them and sell them through BMW dealerships. For BMW to sell an M7 might not be that hard since M cars sell a lot more than Alpinas, but through research, an M7 is not suited in the market in this current economic climate. The relationship between Alpina and BMW are getting closer as you will see in the future, Alpina is working on the new V12 for the B7"S".

Nice! I wonder how much horsepower this one will put out. More than 600? The new 760Li is doing more than 500hp.

A bit of background on the new B7: weighs 4,312 lb (1,960 kg), still lighter than the 750i or Li production models and it sits on some beautiful Alpina-style 21 inch wheels. It is powered by a V8 4.4 liter twin-turbo engine outputting 505 horsepower and an impressive 517 lb-ft (700Nm) reached at 4,750 rpm. Alpina B7 is a rear-wheel drive vehicle and it uses the automatic “SwitchTronic” gearbox.

All that power and balance needs to be kept in place, so Alpina packs the B7 with 245 and 285 tires.

Official testing show that the B7 runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds and it is electronically limited at 174 mph (280km/h).
