Does the xc90 come with anything but that crazy twincharged 4cyl? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen

Yea you can get the same engine plus a 100hp electric motor for more reliability

I don't think I'm keeping it far past warranty anyway but this drivetrain has been used for the last two years in all their other models so hopefully they've worked out the kinks.

One of the most prestigious Volvo interiors I've ever seen. =)

P.S.
By the way how is the 4 cylinder engine? Can it handle such a massive vehicle?

I have always paid the premium for BMW's knowing that I would get that dynamic, but the new X5 is numb. So in the end, I'd be paying a 15k premium for a less practical, lower spec'd car that has subpar driving dynamics. As much as I love BMWs I couldn't justify it.

There are some things I don't love about the XC90, like the touch screen for EVERYTHING. I do like buttons for HVAC. I prefer iDrive.
I suggest you have a drive in a Q7, I've had both cars in the past week at home, the Q7 actually looks a lot better in the metal than in photos, but the way it drives and the interior is much better than the XC90. I also noticed that with the XC90's 2.0 diesel you had to thrash it to get it to move, the Audi 3.0 diesel didn't need to be thrashed and it returned better MPG over the time I had them.

They haven't used the VEA engines with electric motor in any other model, they were introduced with the XC90. The XC90 is also the first VEA engined model with AWD, all older AWD Volvo's use the older engines.

From Autoblog:
The first three 2.0L four-cylinder engines - a turbocharged and supercharged gas T6 I-4 good for 302 horsepower, a 240-hp turbocharged gas T5 version and a 178-hp D4 twin-turbo diesel - were launched in the fall of 2013.

The T6 VEA engine is offered on the AWD XC60, V60, V70 and S60.

The engine/transmission pairing works great. The forced induction gives good low end torque.

Acceleration only stops past 120mph.

Nice ride. My wife wanted one but I just couldn't get over the lack of flexibility in pricing in my area. So we "settled" for an X5.

I backed out of my XC90 last minute after ordering 6 months ago. Their lease deals are pretty bad. The base money factor is way too high and then they tack on a huge markup which they won't negotiate on. They discount little if any on the MSRP.

At the end of the day, I can get a 10k more expensive X5 for $75 less per month. The Xc90 is a great car, but unless your willing to own this car and pay cash or finance, the value is not there.

Congrats on the car, I was originally going for sc60, but chose the x4 over it and also a bigger price than the Volvo

100% spot on. My wife's '11 X5 has been living at the dealer for one thing after the other lately so we've been looking elsewhere. The XC is a nice vehicle with a number of thoughtful features and very nice fit, finish and materials.

Most of their first year's production was to fulfill pre-orders so the dealers have very little to sell. Most only have a couple on the lot at any give time. They have almost none of the more desirable Inscription level trims available in the pipeline through the end of the year. Dealer claims that 2016 model run will be very short and 2017's will start fairly early next year with a big increase in production capacity.

To put things in perspective on how bad the dealers are, A $58-$59k vehicle on a 3year lease w/$2,500 down came to almost $950 a month - and it's not the residual. The residual comes out to either 59% or 60%. Total payments worked out to around $38k....on a car that cost $58k!! Insane. It's a good way to build bad will considering during the course of two weekends we were at this dealer we were the only ones in the entire dealership for most of the time we were there.

Nice car I like the new direction Volvo is taking with the design, not a big fan of the dash board, but it certainly look well put together, look solid for sure.

i cross shopped this volvo as well but the powerplants were not attractive to me. also, the volvo dealer in my city is far, small and not known for its good service. i bought an x5 35i m performance with m adaptive suspension and the power kit. very satisfied with the drive, quality and handling. previous was an e70 x5d.

congrats on the car and enjoy with your family

How is the reliability/fit/finish so far? Comparable or better in the Geely era than the Ford era?

Still holding out hope they will produce the Concept Coupe as a "halo car"...

Sorry for the delay...latest update is that we sold the car back to Volvo under the Lemon Law.

Not really a big issue, just that the infotainment system kept glitching and whenever we went to the dealer they always had to wait for the software update so they kept the car cumulatively 30 days.

No other issues with the XC90 whatsoever.
