Dealer reimbursement by BMW NA for loaner?

In the US does BMW reimburse dealerships when they give you a "free" loaner?

just curious because my M3 was serviced today and I waited for it (1:30) but on the receipt it said "loaner $85, and then NC"

making me think, did they put that on there so BMW pays them back, or even if BMW doesn't pay them they probably write it off...

I've noticed that too and just assumed it was some bullshit to make you think you were getting something for free as a perk when in actuality you're entitled to it. I had a place put wash $50 on there once NC. No offense to anyone working at a dealer but no way the pimple faced teenager washing cars is getting billed out at $50 a wash ~$200 an hour

This sounds sketchy as hell. If it's on the invoice they are billing it somewhere to someone. Next time don't hang out and wait, take em up on the loaner and test drive something you haven't driven yet and make it count.

Bmw does reimburse all dealers on the mileage racked up on their loaners. How much ? That I don't know.

I don't think that's the case.

Loaners are just sold to them at a heavily discounted rate and then they re-sell them.

It could be their way of showing what their per day rental fee is for the loaner in case you don't return the car within a reasonable amount of time.

I am a BMW service advisor. Loaners start their lives as any other new car and are added to our loaner fleet then become retired before they approach 5k miles. We are responsible for making sure that our fleet of 50 loaners are used equally so that we can get reimbursement from BMW for their diminished value and then they are removed from the loaner fleet and go for sale as demo cars and a new set of new cars become loaners.

The OP said that he waited 1.5 hours for his M3, he didn’t mention receiving a loaner but it was documented on his invoice. I would contact the dealer for an explanation and BMW if it appears suspect.

I've seen them over 10k miles and awaiting their first oil change. IJS.

And you still get your car serviced there?

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't stay with a mechanic that didn't maintain his own fleet of vehicles.

Yep. My dealer sees a ridiculous amount of cars per day. Loaners get turned around almost immediately. It's nuts.

If you don’t mind sharing (or via PM) which dealer you are at? I need to find a local place to take my M2 for its future services.
