Electric range issues
I picked up my 740e last week and although I love this car, and somewhat disappointed with the range on electric. It states in the sales brochure that it will do up to 28 miles on electric, yet we only get a MAX range of 18 miles and that's before we have even driven the car!!
Am I missing something here? What do your cars state? |

That does seem a bit poor Lee. Have you tried a real ECO Pro i.e soft and slow drive just prior to the charging? As you'll know from a Fossil Fuel burners the algorithm for range varies wildly based on the last period of driving. I wouldn't be expecting 28 miles just like I wouldn't expect the official MPG but as you say 18/28 isn't great .... before you even drive!?

as you can see this is a well known issue 8-4-2017: Complaint that real electric range of BMW 740e petrol plug-in hybrid is actually less than 20 miles from an overnight charge, not the 29 miles claimed. |

I have owned this vehicle since July. It has never read more than 18 miles on electric, even after toggling the battery reserve to between 50 - 60%.
I have noticed some other interesting "features" when changing between Max eDrive and any other driving mode. Specifically, my vehicle gets locked into Max eDrive and can only be put into another mode by moving the gear shifter in to m/s. I can not get the car to switch into Comfort or Sport by pressing the button. Upon review, I am told this is how the car is supposed to operate. Would love to know if any else has had the same experience. |

I've never believed the MPG/Range figures in brochures, they are carried out with a car that's not production ready in a lab on a rolling road, that's in no way close to real life.
