Am I too young for a 7?
Only a half serious question here, but over on the 6 forum I've been thinking of getting rid of my 6 and I've always loved big executive saloons. Someone said they'd get a 7 if they were 50. I don't really care what people think and I personally think I quite suit big cars like this, however it got me thinking.
What age, if any would you think is the "right" age for a 7? I'm 33 by the way, and have spent the last day trying to work out how I can get into a G11 for reasonable cost! |

I had a F02 750 at 27 and now G12 750 MSport at 33. I think you're fine. If you like performance, a 7 shouldn't be your primary car. It's great for daily, highways, and road trips. Not that exciting to drive if that's what you're looking for and parking is a b*tch, it's as long as a GMC Yukon.
I miss my F06 6GC a lot, it handled better, looks great, and the rear seats fold down to fit my bike and snowboard. Wish I kept it instead of getting the 7, which is a boat in comparison and the rear seats do not fold. Also, the technology in the 7 is very glitchy. So if I were you, keep the 6GC unless you have a big family that needs a larger car. And if you think a 7 is a old man's car, you haven't been to a Porsche Club America meeting. I'm the youngest guy there.

I'm 35 and I don't feel old in the new G11.
But I have 11 cars to drive. |

I was at the right side of the 18 years of age when I got myself an trouble bag called Jaguar XJ40 .
There's no problem with driving a 7 Series or any car at any age may be only downside people around might think you're a professional driver of the boss not the actual owner of the car that's it if there's an inherited issue with those type of big sedans

It is not an age thing but more fit for individual in their own life stage. I would recommend smaller if possible, but enjoy a G12 if you can afford and take advantage of extended wheelbase.
Personally, it is too big a car for my needs. But, if it meets yours, enjoy! |

Traded in my 650xi gran coupe 2 years ago at age 36 to lease a 2015 new BMW 750Li individual and just turned it in early yesterday for my new 2017 BMW 740e now 38 years old. I love it. I looked at an M4 and 540, just didn't feel like going backwards. Glad I bought another 7.

Love it. Owned last 3 gens of 7's and am amazed every time of how they improve on perfection. DMAX745i 74LIFE

I drove 3-Series cars in my 30s -- culminating in the V8-powerhouse E93 M3 in my early 40s, which was a blast to drive. I'm now 50 and this is my second 7 Series. Bought the first one when I was in my early 40s. I really don't think of my 2016 750Li as an "old man's car" but as a super-capable, totally comfortable daily driver and road-trip machine. I drive 45 miles each way to work every day, so the car soaks up the miles with no fuss at all. It's also pretty amazing to be able to take another couple with us on long road trips (live in San Francisco but frequently drive down to the LA / San Diego areas) and to know they've got the exact same comfort in the rear (luxury seating package w/ full massage, etc, etc.) for a long 7-hour drive, is pretty awesome. First class all the way.
I'm loving my G12 7-Series.

Taking $110,000 that could be invested elsewhere and buying a 7 series at age 29 could end up costing you over $170,000 in investment earnings by the time you are age 50. Plus, over 20 years, you will likely buy more than one car, right? So, buying a 7 at age 29 will take at least $270,000 out of your butt by age 50. So, fast forward to age 50, was that broken down 7 you bought 20 years ago rusting in your garage worth the $270,000 it cost you? |

I picked up my F02 at 30, my E46 M3 at 22 and a 600CC bike at 19, age means nothing here so long as you're mature.

Nothing wrong with it, go with what you like. I do not know your personal situation, but if I was not married w/kids I would have something totally different

I got my current 2016 750i X-Drive when I was 27, and am only now about to turn 29.
I prefer luxury to sport, but still want some driving excitement. I like the idea of jumping straight to the top of the pyramid, rather than working my way through 3s and 5s. Plus, I enjoy how unexpected it is for someone my age to drive a 7-Series. Not because it's for "old people", but because no one expects me to be able to afford it. All of my similar-aged friends love it as well. It may not be what they would buy with their money (if they had it), but they enjoy the "baller" aspect of it; I suppose that's what appeals most about my car to most people my age. |

34 here, but mainly bought it for my wife who was 31 at the time and prefers a smoother ride when going places. We love the 7 with the sport package. Looks good with the 20's, and I actually get a ton of compliments on the car (which is surprising coming from owning a couple of exotics previously).
It's a great daily driver, with good mid-range which makes it perfect for the driving I do. I enjoy how roomy it is for my passengers as well, and the fact I can take it out to dinner without drawing too much attention. Classy enough, without flaunting it, and luxurious enough for longer trips.

Forget your age - if, as a package, its what YOU want in a car then buy it! That's all that matters.
