Autobahn Package Cars Delayed....

My dealer just told me "Autobahn" package cars are delayed due to supplier issues....anyone else here this.

Mine was ordered in late August for allocation this week...but now...looks like delayed.

Now...dealer says delay due to LED roof...hmmm...

What will I hear next? I'm worried I won't get my car until 2016 due to BS excuses!

I ordered the AutoBahn Package and the Pana Sky with my car but the dealership hasn't said anything to me. Where did you hear about these delays..did they call you?

My car was supposed to go into production during week 38 (it didn't) so I contacted my salesmen who checked w/BMW. BMW apparently informed him that there are delays with cars that ordered the Sky Lounge LED roof (not the autobahn pkg as he originally told me). He has not gotten back to me with "how long" the delay might be. He said if I canceled the LED roof...it would speed up the production time.

When is yours supposed to go into production? Maybe track online to see if it actually does. Hope yours goes more smoothly. Let me know if you hear anything on your vehicle....thanks.

Tracking

Thanks...I didn't know I could track my order online. Here is what my Status looks like...the Dealer said I'm in Build 41 which begins the 1st week of Oct. One question, it shows a picture of the car I ordered with the correct color combo but the rims are not correct....I ordered the 20" Star Spoke Wheels. Is that something I should be concerned with? I wish there was a way to look at the list of options for my build to confirm it was entered correctly by the dealership.

Mine shows the correct car color (magellun gray) and the optional 20'' bi-color V-spoke wheels. I too wish the website showed the options on my build. I would double check with your dealer just in case. I emailed my dealer all my options after I ordered it just in case (so I had a paper trail). I think we have similar spec'd vehicles (MSRP'd for ~$122k).

So yours should go into production the week of October 5th....keep tracking this to see if it actually does. I'm still trying to get information on my "delay"...but the dealer seems pretty clueless. I know it is not uncommon for some delays...but I hate not knowing how long!

Good luck with your order....and let me know any new developments.

If you are experiencing a delay it is likely because your dealer didn't have an allocation between time of order and actual production date. Purchase of BMW individual options can also cause delay since the dealer needs to file additional paperwork.

JSP1777,

I was wondering, did you get any type of discount on your car? My dealership gave me $2,500 off and said that everyone else was paying sticker...but that I got a discount because I've bought 6 cars from them.

I haggled with 6 dealerships around Boston (and New Hampshire). Some offered only $1000 off initially and some said "most" were paying sticker too. Ended up getting $4.5k off (plus dealer will swap out the run flats for conventional tires...which I wanted given the history of run flats on 20'' wheels...I got the spare tire just in case). I ordered mine on August 26.

There have been a lot of good articles on the vehicle since I ordered...so maybe demand has tightened up and closer to MSRP now? I think once people see it and drive it...prices will be closer to MSRP...at least initially (I hope).

Reviews are trickling in and they appear neutral at best... all report pretty soft ride and soft steering, really a departure from BMW's driving characteristics. Technology is nothing spectacular in today's world and key is too large, takes up too much space.

I would choose a Tesla Model S over a new 7 any day.

Do not be concerned. The picture is rarely accurate.

What reviews are you referring to?

All the major publications said that for a car of its size, it handles exceptionally well. Better than anything else in its class.

I'm intrigued...

Congrats! That's great news. My "new" production date is October 20th (so hopefully I'll have it ~mid-December). Makes me wonder if the excuse they gave me for the delay was just BS.

My dealer has a 2016 'individual' coming in next weekend for a viewing....probably one of the first in the area. Looking forward to seeing it!

Yeah, the only issues I've heard of is that BMW is out of the Ceramic Knobs that are found in the Executive Package. Therefore, they have adjusted the price of the package down by $500 to reflect these parts not being available. I got my order in early enough that I'll be getting them...but my package was also $3,200 vs the current stated price on the website which is $2,700. Also, I'm surprised your dealer is getting a car next week as its my understanding the North American Launch isn't scheduled until Oct 24th.

Yeah....dealer told me there was an unallocated "individual" vehicle at the port in New York which they somehow got. So bringing it up to Boston for a big introductory event next Sunday. Said I could maybe swap to this vehicle if I don't want to wait for my ordered car (and pay $4.5k more). Want to see it first.

My dealer had a car in this past weekend. I drove it, and was very impressed, so much that I ordered one this morning. The kidney's are a little bit oversized, but I think I'll get used to it.

The fit and finish is a significant step up from the F01 7. The car feels more like a 5 from behind the wheel than it does an LWB 7, which I think is a good thing.

Coding has become more difficult in recent months with BMW introducing updates. Hopefully the system on these G11's is still easily accessible.
You should have checked with your dealer. They could have re-programmed your car, with which the car remember your last setting Regarding the Auto Start/Stop. and it will start in either Comfort or Comfort + mode. This become standard from model year 2014 and above.

My dealer just got a couple new 7's...including an "individual"....which was outstanding inside. I really liked the cockpit...and fit & finish was great. This will give the S class a run for its money I think. Can drive it on Monday! Can't wait.

Can you post pictures if possible?

Thanks!
