Smile 2010-11 740Li Delivered

Got our family car F02 740Li Space Grey last month but was too busy to do anything to it and posting it. Production date: March 2010; delivered May 2010!

Was reading posts that it would not come with the side camera package but in fact it did (ordered FEB 2010) and with TOP VIEW package! Guess only US 7er owners are out of luck. no offense guys! I was ready to scream at my SA if it did not come with the side view package and he never gave me the notice like the 7er owners in US when ordered from FEB-APR. All in all very happy with the camera package as it helps alot in tight parking spots in Hong Kong.

Engine:
This car still uses the same Twin Turbo instead of the new one found on recent F10 535i & E92 335is. Compare to 750 V8 its not slow at all, the difference is there but not noticeable in city driving. Test drove 750 b4 and it has higher speed and more power from 70mph+. Haven't really try sport mode yet, cause it will rev to more than 4k rpm (only has 1600km on it) For sure with sport mode the handling and gas pedal sharpens to what a Bimmer is known for.

Wheels:
Ugly as hell.......... with stock 234 18's. DUNLOPS RFT doesn't do it either with stock tires. However the ride is nice for a luxury car and I haven't experience the RFT effect YET. BMW HK charges 100% tax on OEM wheels when ordered together that's why did not order a set of 303M 20's wheels.

Looking at HRE 20's and ADV.1. wheels but not yet decided. HRE's monoblock does not support 20's for the weight of our 7s. It has to be P40L and other "L" series which is 21"-22". I am determine not to use 21's because the tires are rare and is useless for me using this car cross boarder in China. I plan to use P ZERO RFT with 20's. Michelin PS2 and PS3 does not have our BMW stock 20's size.

Any recommendations? I am running low on options.

Angel Eyes:
All of ya know stock AE is yellowish so I switched them to MTECH 4350k H8, mix results was what I think. Its not as yellow for sure, but its also not bright nor even close to white.

Really want LED like the new 5GT and F10 5 series.
Note: camera is D90 F/9 ISO200 1/5 sec.

ENJOY!

Thanks Guys!

BBS is another option. HK BMW is one of the official dealers and adds 100% tax for new cars within 6 months on road. ($50,000/set with tires + 100% tax= $100,000 HKD= ~$12,800 USD) roughly another new used car of Honda civic...

I can wait 6 months and then put them on(no tax) from BMW HK....options include OEM, BBS, AC Schnitzer from them. (Maybe more)

OZ does not have wheels I like. Another options are the Type V AC Schnitzer in 20's.

bmw concessionaires hk isnt cheap, havent u tried the rim shop in gloucester rd? there are a lot of wheel shops in hk arent they? i used to buy my rims there coz theyre cheaper. try considering style253 in 20", bmw hk had that before though only 1 pc was left, so i wasnt able to buy.

Go the AC Schnitzers! I think they're more "sporting" rather than the full on sporty/racy look of BBS. Would suit a 7 better IMO. Anyway great car mate.

Thanks thijs-v-d-H.

I really want the finish such as the Ferric Grey Style 312. Or close to it like the ADV05.1 Gross Grey on the left side of the picture.

bruno787:
Style 253 is standard for 760Li in HK, plus I do not like the cap on top of the bolts. Makes it trying too hard to be 760....IMO.

Gloucester rd has many options, not sure if those rims can support 7er weight. Mention earlier even HRE forged wheels at 20's does not support weights of our 7's @ ~1980kg+ for 740Li and ~2100kg+ for 750Li.

The origin of those rims are sometimes questionable, not all but some....

SBC:
AC Schnitzers is one of the top candidate right now as its already has the prefect size and widths as standard OEM 20's has, skipping the hassle of custom made and fits perfectly.

Going to get a quote from ADV.1 wheels in the 2 wheels below.

My main concern is getting the sets that can handle the 7's weight, as I do not want to have issues like wheel vibrations as some other 7er owners had experienced posted in different 7 forums.

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES TO THE 312's! If BMW Individual gave a choice between wheels, I might even take them over the 301's. Is there anywhere we can find a listing of all BMW OEM wheels available to the 7?

I want the photographs of your 7 series key fob please (I love the Key fob alot), happy driving and best of luck

My name is A R Ansari and I am from Canada and yours introduction please?.

My friends just call me Big AL.

Thanks, best sedan? I am not sure, but certainly better than most lol I consider my self very lucky.

Thanks for your comments on my photos, I am just a newbie, some are ok, some are below avg of what I expected . Sorry but I forgot to take photos of the key fob at all....... btw I hate BMW doesn't provide a leather key fob case for this kind of cars.......... hopefully they will with the F10 that uses the same key fob.

IMO BMW is always a great car to drive and to enjoy. Servicing is another topic, which is known for small problems. However as I have read from other 7 owners, this car has the least problems of them all. So far I have 1 minor one already at 1800km ODO

If you believe it is a style statement then go ahead its worth the money. From what I know in Canada, leasing or financing a BMW F10 535i is similar to the cost of a fully loaded Lexus G430.

I do not know what you need in a car so I can't say much. You should consider family size?(X5) # of children?(X6) holiday car?(M6) everyday car?(F10 550i), track car?(E92 M3) and so on..........

Good luck on deciding a future BMW!

if you would like to get OEM rims, you can try pyramid (along gloucester road). they are much cheaper than bmwhk and you dont need to pay 100% tax. another option is to order online from UK. I found this website www.alloywheelsdirect.net

Congrats on your new ride, looks sweet! I personally feel that 20" is a good compromise between comfort and looks. Mines from Hamann.

Ever considered these wheels? They are D2 Forged and look really nice on the new 7. I have the same wheels as yours and thinking of putting on some 21'' forged wheels. I've had my eyes on these or the DPE SP16.

Yes AL I agree with you that the BMW has built a better sedan , I would be purchasing a BMW in my hometown and you know what my hometown has Right Hand Driving Style (RHD) and there are some similar rules like in Hong Kong which are in my country too (I mean we use Kilometer per liter and KM/Hr). So I can import a fully loaded BMW of any model from Hong, and what about Key Fobs I am very eager to see it, how is your car and are you comfortable driving it? and how is the service there in Hong Kong.

Once again thank you AL for your best wishes.

I think I've seen these exact same wheels on an older 7 model (I think it was a 745) at my local dealer today. I can't say that I particularly liked the look of them. In my opinion the car looked too much like a pimp car... They were just too large for the car. They appeared to be something like 22 inch or even larger. Way too much shiny wheel and not enough rubber.

Thanks for your suggestions, I just asked BMW HK, they are having a "special" on 312 21" Ferric Grey with P Zero RFT tires on for HK$49,000=US$6,300. Great cost in HK with 21" Run Flat tires (Can not compare to US, which is consider a regular price for a full set.....)

The only drawback is they will not put it on. If they put it on everything needs to go though proper "procedures".... and tax will be added 85% on top of $49K.

I can just order the 312 set from them, but need to installed at other local non BMW shops.

SAMLAMBO:

Saw your threads before, beautiful white 7er and your issues with 19" - 20" Hamann wheels. IMO 20" is the sweet spot for the 7, but BMW HK offers the special as I just said, 21" is a nice compromise to 20"

Bimmer530i:

Thanks! Did consider the DPE and suggested by other friends, but I don't like a wheel with deep LIP, at least for a 7er anyways. Offset is also a headache for custom wheels and dealers in HK said "DPE is a bitch to work with" (quote from a friend of mine).

No first hand experience from myself.... so if DPE is reading this don't blast at me. Is just what I heard. Also its kinda too much bling bling, a pimp...

Thanks for your suggestions though.

bmwrockzz:
Car drives very well, no time and no place to push it lol. I am still babying the car until it racks up more miles on it. Service is good, but I didn't expect first class service from the start anyways, so its all good to me.

xDrive50i:
Agreed!

On another note, I noticed you have the rear entertainment but from the looks of it, you don't have the rear iDrive controller. Was that something you picked or is it not available in HK?
