Jeremy Clarkson and ex Top Gear team to produce and host new show on Amazon Prime

LONDON —Former "Top Gear" co-host Jeremy Clarkson has signed a deal with Amazon to present a new show alongside his former colleagues Richard Hammond and James May.

Clarkson was fired from the BBC for physically attacking a member of the "Top Gear" production staff in March.

Amazon said the new show, to be overseen by the trio's longtime executive producer Andy Wilman, will be available on its subscription streaming service Amazon Prime next year and run for three seasons.

It gave no further details of the as-yet unnamed show.

Clarkson, 55, was replaced as lead host of the globally popular "Top Gear" — which is watched by 350 million viewers worldwide — by British DJ Chris Evans.

Clarkson, who had generated both controversy and profits for Britain's publicly-funded broadcaster, had been on a final warning over accusations last year that he had used racist language while filming the show.

It's a big story, especially since they won't be airing an episode this Sunday. The BBC will lose money, and Jezza isn't making any friends, which he needs at the network to back him up when he does something controversial.

Movie stars, tv stars, music stars get away with sh*t way worse than this. Woopy doo, he throw a punch at a producer. Who knows the producer could be a complete twat.

Suck it up BBC you are making millions. Either end the show, let the boys go somewhere else or deal with celebrity egos.

Looks like he got into a fight with an exec and got suspended. Exec probably had the Lexus RCF and Jeremy clocked him!

Went to throw a punch at a producer I read. Don't think the suspension will last... there is already an online petition signed by thousands to have him reinstated... lol.

Rest of season is suspended at this point though pending outcome so thats not so good news.

Make no mistake, Jeremy Clarkson IS Top Gear. Just look at the US version and see what mediocre hosts (in terms of humor/entertainment) do to ratings, ad dollars and syndication.

A few observant bimmerpost members prior to all this did call some of his recent reviews as seemingly going though the motions and mundane (I haven't seen enough of the recent season to be the judge). If people are socking each other on the show, probably not a very healthy environment to begin with and some of that probably did show on camera.

Correct. Although Episode 7 (the most recent episode) was panned for being a bit too mundane. That's what happens when an American Top Gear presenter gets involved.

The Mrs and I actually prefer some of the earlier seasons more. We still like the show, but the banter and reality bits (go buy cheap car, do something stupid) feel more scripted than ever before.

Great show though and I am sure Clarkson will be back again.
