Yellow is designated for GTLM and GTD classes. White are Prototype/DPi classes. It dates back to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Different colored lights are critical because drivers will flash them when they want to make a pass. In the instance of the Prototypes/DPis they can run upwards of 20mph faster in the straights. As a GTLM car seeing white headlights in your mirror you know they are going to be faster and may be coming on at a greater rate of speed than a competitive GTLM or GTD car with yellow lights in your mirror.

Another fact to know which cars are GTLM vs GTD; pro class cars (GTLM) feature red number backgrounds, windshield banners, mirrors, leader lights, and wing end plates while the pro-am class cars (GTD that features a pro driver and amateur driver) use the color green.
Thankfully you saved the day with some awesome info. Cuz that video told me nothing! Haha

The M8 GTE looks and sounds bad ass tho! Excited to see how she does!

You have no idea how important the lighting is during night races
I can tell you're not following Daytona 24 Live Timing.
I guess we will know come Sunday. This is a shake down test. We will know the real car come mid summer
The lights did great last night !! We're just 7 laps behind as of now. Complete disappointment.

What was BMW saying about the regulations making the M8's uncompetitive?

Should a race car not be designed to be competitive with in the regulations of its desired class? Not built and then hope for allowances?

I could be reading this all wrong but thats what it sounds like. I admit I am not an expert by any means when it comes to racing and the regulations. Can some one help me understand the complaint BMW has?

It sounds like they were already afforded a weight reduction and a boost increase.

Disappointing clip. I was hoping we would learn about some advanced technology that would trickle down to production in a couple years. Nothing.

Performance in the race was truly pathetic. The lap, times were 2 to 3 seconds slower than ford or corvette. Let's blame BOP.

I watched this race on TV on and off over the weekend. You cannot tell that it's different from the older tech. That said, I'm sure in person it'll look different.

Also, the overhead shots of the cars show the different light scatter method they're using.
