M-sport is fairly muscular & I do agree with most of the comments here -- it's the way to go.

Actually thats how the s class looks..take look at the 1999 Cadillac escalade center console..and you will get the point..as for the emotion..merc looks like it does have no more soul than a ginger..sure it looks great..but not emotional..7 series at least looks aggressive..
I wouldn't get neither but the S class is the segment leader no doubt about it.

Has anyone mentioned the quattroporte??

I'm not a big fan of the new body but it should definitely be considered in the S vs 7 debate, even if it's not part of the BMW vs MB rivalry...

Maserati Quattroporte is superb though I have to admit........and if there is one thing that is good about the Fiat-Chrysler merger, it's that the infotainment system has improved by leaps and bounds over the previous-gen (which back then was ridiculously inferior for a car of such stature)

If you look at videos made of the interior, you can see the ambient lighting flicker. This is a common trademark of LEDs, as the camera picks up LED flickering, but humans cant see it. You would see the same effect on the head and tailights. These are definitely LEDs.

Still not seeing any chrome in this interior.

The missing tooth look between the front kidney grills is uber bizarre. As much as I like the rest of the car, the missing tooth would stop me from buying the 7er.

Just don't get white. I imagine the sensor is hardly noticeable with dark colors.

Exclamation

I need to see it as I just can't seem to like it, the weight has put me right off and lack of good diesel power, this car will NOT be any quicker or more economical IMO.
The MPG- 0-62 times are way off in most cases apart for the "M" cars.
Big square Barge comes to mind.
Technology is fine but how much can we use/need "on the move"?.

Bro if the 265ps 730d isn't enough I'm pretty sure there will be at least the >313ps 740d in the UK as well, maybe even the 750d (not sure about the current generation?), just not immediately

Compared to the Audi A8 and MB S Class, this design is just messy; but this is nothing new because BMW is always a step behind with the design of the 7 series.

Without that M-Sport package, it looks ordinary. Kia K900 maybe?

The more I see of this car, the more I love it. It's not revolutionary, sure, but for those of us who truly love the 7, we don't want a revolution. It seems like the only thing that would make the critics here happy is if BMW hired the entire Mercedes team and produced an S. If you want an S, go buy one.

I love this car, and I suspect this will be the best selling 7 ever.

BMW M Chief Frank Van Meel : We are not interested in making an M7

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11507089...m2-coming-soon

So if that's the case, then the next best thing would indeed be the upcoming 760Li M-Sport.

P.S.
I didn't include Alpina because Alpina is not real BMW branded performance.....
