Angry Anyone else having engine issues on their 750I?

My 2016 xdrive with 2,800 miles on the odometer bought new late last year developed an engine knock 10 days ago and has been sitting at the dealer for the past 8 days. I'm being told that it will likely need a new engine and that there is an unofficial recall???? Very disappointed to say the least

It happens.
I've seen a X5 with less than 300 miles need an engine replacement. The longest part of the process it BMW approving the replacement. All these things are modular.
Once it's approved it'll be in and out.
And just think! freshER engine!

I saw on another BMW forum another 2016 owner in NYC with a similar issue requiring engine replacement and he said that his dealer told him there were 10 others in the past few weeks. That sounds more like a common problem rather than a one off but hey I suppose I can get a freshER engine every 2,800 miles for the next 4 years right

Wow, that's a poor reliability record. I Don't they put these engines into tests before mass manufacturing such valuable engines

THen don't buy the product simple as that.

My G12 750LXi has treated me pretty well, although there are a couple of niggling problems I need taken care of:

1.] I have a small problem with what I think is the Auto Start / Stop feature. This has only happened a few times, but it's been unnerving. I stop at a light, and the engine turns off. When the light turns green, I release the brake and press the gas, only to have the warning chime go off, and the car slips into Neutral and shuts off again. When I restart the car, and shift into gear, I'm able to drive off as if nothing happened. The unnerving part is having it happen while sitting in an intersection waiting to make a left turn. You think you're going to have the power to make the turn (against oncoming traffic) then the car just stalls right there, leaving me exposed to a potential collision from oncoming cars. Now, in situations like that, I just turn off the Start / Stop feature.

2.] My car has developed several interior "rattles" that are driving me nuts. I've put just over 27,000 miles on this 2016 car (I drive a LOT) and am due for service in a couple of weeks. Hoping the dealer can fix the rattles at that time.

Other than that, the car has been great

Bought my g12 750xi in late last august, just about 9000 miles now. From past two weeks the cid (central info display - ie navi) the whole unit shuts off. No radio, no nav, rear view camera, etc. nothing works. Then about an hour later when i start the car again it comes on. Very annoying especially in the morning when i m backing out of the long driveway and this happens (does not happen regularly) Anyway dropped it at the dealers today for service and he said there is also a recall to replace the turbos And he would address my navi issue as well. Will be keeping the car for 4-5 days. But apart from these issues it is a pleasure to drive the car.

On the same note, never had a single issue with my 2011 740i.

What do the last two posts have to do with engine failures?

I am not an engineer so I don't know if a turbo issue can trash an engine. If so, then of course you are right! The thread is about "engine issues" and in context applies to issues requiring the engine to be replaced.

But the CID issue above seems misplaced.
