Second car/SUV suggestions?

Hi all,

I have asked this question before but it was for sun's this time I need both sedan and suv suggestions.

Need to replace my wife's car which is coming off lease in a couple of months.
we have a family and need a bigger car, she currently drives the C300 and likes sedan, but we are thinking of getting an SUV, don't know if we should get 2 suv, since prices are pretty much the same or stick to one suv for the family duties, trips, grocery run etc.

She prefers sedans so we though the GLC 300 would be something she would like, but it would be very similar to the C300 which we already have.

X3 doesn't feel luxurious, and Q5 back is too small, plus I am looking for replacing my suv with the Q7 so not sure if we want to have both the Q7 and the Q5.

If sedan then we were thinking of going for either the A6 or the e class.

Not sure if we want to go the non- luxury car route.

A6 is about to be replaced, but the best of your list. An S6 and the new X40i X3 would be a good start.

My wife drives a Cayenne which she loves. It feels compact and agile on the road with precise handling while being rather spacious for our family of four. The seats and overall ergonomics are great. The options are endless on how luxurious or fast you want to configure it but even a basic one with a few carefully selected options make for a great SUV.

The only downside we encountered are costs for service visits and we found it difficult to negotiate the purchase price compared to the other German brands. A good dose of arrogance among the dealers, at least up here.

I love my Cayenne turbo. Perfectly compliment to my weekend 3.

I went Lexus rx350. Super reliable and very reasonable running costs. Yes it's boring but it's my wife's car and the savings there get invested back in my m3!

We really want to stay with a german brand, also want to save some money and buy a CPO.

Need it be reliable, we will have a RAV4 and add the Q7, so i guess it doesn't make sense to add another suV does it?

After having our second child we replaced our 2014 A6 with a 2017 prem-plus 3.0T Q7. While we REALLY wanted to like the X5 better than the Audi, the latter just had an overall better package at our desired price point.

Not sure if I quite understand your scenario but if the choice is RAV4 + SUV/Sedan I would suggest going with a fuller sized SUV now for the cargo space, 3rd row and towing capabilities then trade the RAV4 a couple of years from now for the sedan when it's time for a change. Hope this helps!

Unless you plan to get rid of it long before it sniffs running out of warranty.

Reliable and cpo german brand don't go together.

Replace the rav4 or q7 and get the Rx.

How about Peugeot? Now, my sis is currently with 5008 I (Phase II, 2013). It's not a SUV, but it fits her big family of 6 perfectly.

I dare say, i am not a fan of French cars. I have no idea why, but they have always been a symbol of bad engineering. This one, however, made me think twice. Maybe the French has finally found the right formula for making cars.

X5 might be a good option. I'm debating getting one myself. It all depends on the budget.

I wouldn't have 2 midsize-large SUV's in the same household, personally. The new Q7 is fantastic, and I wholeheartedly support your decision on that one.

For her, I'd check out a new A4 or A5 Sportback.

If it's got to be an SUV, maybe a decently equipped Macan S, perhaps CPO?? I like the F Pace, too.

Check out the latest Toyota Avalon Limited or Lexus ES. You can also get them in hybrid. I was very pleased with my Avalon limited Hybrid. Very large and roomy. Reliable. Somewhat luxurious. It’s not an Audi but nice. If you look used, you can get them half off new msrp.

Q5 back is too small? I convinced my dad to lease a Q5 TDI with the assurance that I'd buy it after the lease was up; but we all know that outcome. Triple Dog Damn you, Diesel-Gate! I borrowed that thing A LOT and can see how the back might be too small, even with sliding the rear seats all the way forward.

Anyway, the point I'm making is that you might have to start considering a *GASP* minivan...

While that may be true (I've seen some weird shit here in NYC with diplomat plates), parts and service would be a nightmare.
