For once we agree. That sounds exactly like AmBi's favourite pastime - I shall certainly be on the lookout for someone like him or you. For I'm afraid I do not swing that way.

What intrigued me most about this was the apparent relatively flat trajectory combined with low recoil.

Certainly interesting...Hawk has to give us his thoughts after he takes it to the range.

Yeah, pretty much...it's basically a left-handed 1911. Not just ambi controls and such. The tooling or whatever is essentially a mirror image of the design.

I have to admit...definitely not the smartest purchase; it was done wholly on impulse. I'd like to say I was drunk when I submitted my order, but I honestly can't.

Guys,

In need some recommendations for a nice concealed carry gun? With all the mess in Chicago it makes sense to get something. I have a SIG MK 25, but with the laser light attached it's a little bit too big.

Thanks.

I have a S&W M&P Shield 9mm and it's a pretty good little gun. Single stack so it's thin, comfortable grip, plenty of aftermarket sights available to conform to your preference. Trigger is decent but can also be upgraded with the Apex kit

I have a couple of those (because California), I really tried to like it, I just don't. I'm not entirely sure why, there is nothing wrong with it.

I replaced it in my pocket with a Kahr PM9.

I'll post some pictures later, waiting on a couple parts, I have been busy making my 'black rifles' 'featureless' to comply with nonsense CA laws.

The really stupid thing is, 'featureless' makes it much easier to reload, and arguable stay on target for follow up shots (muzzle brake instead of flash hider).

I have done an AR, my Tavor, and I have the parts for my SCAR 17. I have some of the new style 'bullet buttons' for some of my other toys, I may install one of those just to try it, but they look like a mess.

W00h00, another Tavor owner!

qba335i, an alternative to the M&P Shield is the Honor Guard single stack 9mm, by Honor Defense (www.honordefense.com). I've only dry fired one at my LGS...but just from that, its trigger feels much better - to me, at least - than the spongy excuse that comes stock on the M&P.

BTW, I carry a Sig P290RS.

Just purchased a PSL. Should arrive at my FFL by Monday. Stock image from Wikipedia but I'll take some proper ones when mine arrives.

I will be testing both although with it being chambered in 7.62x54R I will probably be using mostly spam can stuff.

The corrosive comm block spam can 54R is easy enough to deal with in a bolt gun but the thought of having to pull apart the gas system of a semi auto every time you shoot is daunting

That is a good point. Ballistol will do it but having to take it all apart, I may end up shooting proper ammo after all to save the time. I just have a ton of the spam can for my mosins but like you said, bolt gun vs SA.

I've never heard of any avenue for a foreign national without a US residence to purchase a firearm, let alone get a CCW permit.

Right

There's nothing difficult about tearing apart the gas system on a garand, m1a or ak......its just a time consuming pain in the ass to do and do thouroughly to ensure none of the primer salt sits and festers and makes the gun rust up

Go to Detroit, best bet will be around 9pm and later. If you stop at enough corners, there will be someone willing to sell you a gun. What you do with it after is up to you, most just throw it in the Detroit river.
