Too many bean counters not enough passion.
They just now came out with turbo 6cyl, Audi MB BMW have had one for over a decade. The infontainment system is really behind Germans as well.

Design is subjective but reminds me a lot of Infiniti M / Q70 and Hyunday Genesis.
New Camry has same tailight shape !

Interior brings nothing new and touchpad sucks.
I disagree: Output for the Lexus is 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, numbers that put this six-cylinder somewhat in the hunt with competitors’ V-8s, including the 449-hp Mercedes-Benz S550 and the 445-hp BMW 750i. I'm sure they know how to make engines with great refinement. And 0-60 in 4.5 secs means they know how to make them powerful too...

Biggest advance in their interior is the 24 inch HUD. No one is close to that...

That will change with Akio Toyoda at the helm. He's a keen driver and passionate about his sports cars having raced the LFA at the 24hr of Nurburgring...

Toyoda won just how many F1 races? Or LeMans? They'll remain boring cars pretty much forever. One cool motor isn't exactly heritage.

The Benz has 516lb-ft of Torque that is HUGE difference.
750 has 480lb-ft which is really underrated.

Lexus #s are generally overrated just look at their new 2.0 turbo 4cyl.

A TT V6 not even inline 6 WILL never feel as smooth or powerful as a TT V8.

Whats the point of the HUD when you cant even control the interface.
NAV is still ancient compared to Germans.

Looks beautiful to me. Maybe a bit over-styled in areas but certainly not boring like the new 7-series.

The interior is kind of a mixed bag. I like it overall, but the dash design is sort of odd and it lacks some of the finer details the 7er and S-class have like metal finished buttons. Then again the starting price will be lower than the others. My gripe with the dash design is that there's no wood there, and instead an extension of the material the air vents are finished in. Overall however, the interior design is certainly more interesting than that of the 7-series.

Ye he got 500 LFAs made that nobody bought and then discontinued the whole project.
He has been running the company for like 10years and im not impressed.

GSF, RCF dont sell.
ISF discontinued.
New LC500 coupe has ancient V8 at $100k price.
New LS500 has a V6 tt really? Lol

The standard models are a joke with old V6 engines dating back to 2005 that are underpowered and have poor fuel economy.
Hybrids are not selling.

They have RX, ES and NX which are all FWD based Toyota platforms.
They make a killing on them.

Still no TT V8, no DCT, no strong push for F brand.

The current model starts at $72k.

While pricing has not been officially released reporters from Detroit are saying they have been told pricing on the new LS should be close to the current model.

I don't understand all the hate for the grille...

The chunks of black plastic on the sides of the front bumper bother me more.

looks like they goofed on the side window design. Doesn't have the same tapering sharpness the rest of the car has.

Base price for the current RWD L is $78k. So I think $80k seems reasonable.

Ummm ... read your racing history, Particularly recently: A Yaris just won the World Rally Championship (and rumor has it that a "hot hatch" Yaris to commemorate it is imminent), and it competes with Ford and Chevy at all levels of NASCAR. And what about the TS050 WEC Le Mans racer?

Toyota's got plenty of racing heritage for its age (barely 40 years). Not Honda or [insert Italian carmaker here] levels of plenty, but Toyota's philosophy has never been to race just for the sake of racing. It's basically been treated as a tool for product research and development -- and Akio Toyoda being at the helm will not change that because it's been a tenet of Toyota's philosophy since soon after the company's founding.

What will change under Akio will be the performance level of consumer cars, as well as the pace and frequency with which Toyota involves itself in racing -- at more levels and of more types -- to develop its consumer products. He's all but said this, multiple times.

WRC isn't exactly a hotbed of competition recently. And did the TS050 win LeMans? Awfully close, but seems like it didn't.

Mazda won LeMans, Honda's had epic F1 success. But neither of them build scintillating sports cars. A one off Yaris and a behind the times LFA aren't a compelling story for success.

I'd love to see Toyota and Lexus offer more involving cars, nearly every other car company already does.

Losing Hiromu Naruse was a big loss for their development. Hopefully they really are still heading in the right direction. But the RCF, GSF and lack of competitive engines isn't reassuring.
