I expect the roof should be similar to what we've seen on the test mule, so those of us handy with Photoshop should be able to create a fairly accurate top up render using those existing images.

Yes and no.

They wont be able to charge double of a Supra, and that sucker should start at sub 40k. The shared development should have cut costs, even bmw's highly blind fanbase wouldn't tolerate double the price, or maybe.
No M motor in Supra anyways

I had just assumed that the concept has no roof at all. Was it mentioned somewhere, or is there otherwise some evidence that it does?

Probably a good thing for Toyota. M-motors these past 17 yrs of so haven't set new standards in reliability from a design and/or assembly perspective.

As a general comment to BMW's engineering team:

Please DO NOT place the power top motor in any location which makes it prone to flooding and ultimate failure like was done on the E85 Z4.

Finally! A bmw I can get behind. Honestly I was getting a little depressed on these GT cars, crossovers, and FWD abominations.

Great car! Hope it drives as good as it looks.

That front headlights are more from a Toyota than from a BMW

They should stick to horizontal headlights instead of vertical ones.

Also the hood line placement of the concept should stay in the production car, but it seems it won’t and we’ll get a F-series wrong hood line placement again.

I like many of the BMW concept cars but the bean counters in BMW always get their way and the best bits go missing on the final production version.

One of the German articles mentions a thin red roof. But not clear whether the concept Z4 has it or not.

Soft.
That's the way a proper convertible sports car should be anyway.

Folding hard tops are played.

A thin red roof? Which publication? I strongly doubt it has any roof.

I misremembered it - it doesn't say 'thin' but 'light red ragtop' ... article is using future tense but it is so specific (color red) that i figured maybe the concept does have one . Anyway, here is the sentence from the web site:

Das leichte rote Stoffverdeck wird sich künftig hinter langgezogenen Hutzen mit integriertem Überrollbügel verstecken.

I love the concept, still prefer to stick with branded headlights. But this jaguar style headlight looks still awesome.

My pricing prediction (base):
2018 Z4 sDrive20i - $52k
2018 Z4 sDrive30i - $59k
2018 Z4 M40i - $68k

Z4M should cost little bit more than m3/m4

That's just bizarre reporting in my mind. Or maybe there is some figure of speech being used that gets lost in translation. At any rate, Autobild is a publication who is best known for their sensationalism and glamour shots as you can see from the photographs with the staff member. They have been known to make things up or exaggerate, so they are typically not the place to go if you want reliable info.

No 20i in the US. As such, highly unlikely the price of entry will be as high as $59k in the US. That would seem to assure that the car will underperform in sales.

Quote:

There will be no Z4 M under the current plan. That could change, but pricing of the 30i and M40i will not be set with a future M flagship in mind.

Agreed - I have to think that in view of the lack lustre sales of the E89, BMW will want this car to be a sales success. So that means a reasonable price is a must.
