Flash? Seriously? In this day and age? I won't let Flash anywhere near my computers due to the security risks. Is there an HTML5 version?

Actually that is interesting as Flash was banned from any of Apple's products. Maybe they have an alternative flash-free site for mobile. I'll get out my iPhone and try it.

If your device doesn't have flash it uses HTML5. Personally I have a plugin on my computers browser that forces it to use HTML5 unless it's not offered. That's how much I despise flash.

Get the free IMSA app. You can watch all the streams there, except the race, of course, because Fox Sports has the rights to that and wastes it on FS2.

This is the first race of the season.

GT racing — like pretty much all professional racing these days — is homologated, which means being competitive requires political maneuvering to ensure your Balance of Performance package doesn't suck. The M6 GTLM has been given a shit deal as far as BoP goes. Watching the #19 car get passed on the oval by the Ford GT cars is extremely frustrating. They blow by the M6 GTLM as if it were a GTD car.

It's either the car or the drivers but the m6 is not competitive and wasn't last year either. Still an exciting finish though. Ford is laying down the gauntlet.

Given Auberlen and Farfus' records in other cars, I really doubt it's the drivers. Also, you can tell when a car has BoP issues by their outright performance on the straights. One GTLM car should not be able to drive by another GTLM car as if it were standing still. The #19 M6 GTLM was passed several times on the oval, and yet it has no advantage in the corners.

I'm all for letting the racing decide, but the M6 GTLM has not been given a competitive BoP package for more than one or two races at a time. It's getting tiresome.

Perhaps, how can you tell if the car is not competitive from a rules' standpoint? Why did the M3 and Z3 not have the same problem? Maybe it is the cause but it feels like excuses; BMW should not be sucking wind so badly against the competition.

I don't think the car isn't competitive, actually believe the opposite. One example is last years win at the 24hrs of Spa.

Team RLL had their issues, so did Turner. Turner was up to P2 at one point and than had contact with a GTLM car damaging the tie rod which cost them around 6 laps and fell back to P15. They did manage to fight back and finish 8th out of 30 cars or so in the GTD category.

Season is young. Looking forward to some more battles. Trying to get out to the race at Road America in August.

Because the M3 and Z3 were totally different cars with totally different BoP

Do you understand that BoP is adjusted multiple times per season? The M6 GTLM was passed multiple times on the oval. Not accelerating out of a turn, but at speed, on the long stretches. The BMW RLL team needs a BoP bump.

There is no "the car". Each sanctioning body runs their own BoP package. The GTLM spec is based on the GTE spec, but IMSA use their own BoP.

The M6 GTLM can be competitive, but it's been hamstrug so far.

Yup exactly. The car itself is fine and has proven it can compete, but it needs to be allowed to run. I think IMSA needs to reevaluate BoP after this weekend.

**Didn't BMW announce a dedicated GTE/GTLM car for next season? It will be interesting to see what they come up with

They did. They announced a "new" GTE car for next year, but they were short on details. It might be a Le Mans only car. No telling if RLL will buy one, whether IMSA will homologate it for the WTSC series, or if BMW will even make it available.

I am very anxious to see what it turns out to be though. RLL needs a fresh start in WTSC.
