In addition to the specified years, search for "M Coupe" or "M Roadster".

Search for Z4 from 2006-2008 and use the trim level M, selecting roadster or coupe depending on your preferences.

Thanks! At this junction in my life the only real consideration I have for a car purchase is price and my use-scenario. Hence why used, new, lease etc. should all be on the table! I cross shopped the 997.1 911, 987 Cayman S and NC Miata before arriving at the Z4M

My favorite BMW of ALL time.
It's a really cool car. The engine note and responsiveness is are incredible! I owned the roadster version and it felt like an assassin ready to take over any car. I have an M4 ZCP, it's fantastic but not as instant as my old Z4M...

Excellent comparison, you are lucky to have both. I have always liked the Z4M, it has classic lines and performance to boot.... lol There is a guy who has a silver one near me and I get tempted to see if he would sell it, probably not I'm thinking. have fun with yours.

I bought it used in 2012, a year after my wife bought our first BMW, a 2011 335is Coupe, selling my 2000 S2000, a car which I swore I would never sell. Now that honor goes to the Z4M which I plan to always have in my stable.

I have to ask where you got the HP rating of 338 though. The Z4 M, Roadster or Coupe, is rated at 330 HP. The identical S54 engine in the E46 M3 is rated at 333 HP, due to the shorter exhaust system in the Z4 M.

To answer some previous questions about the difference between model years, in 2007 TPMS was added as already indicated but also an AUX jack under the HVAC center stack (which can easily be retrofit to the 2006, which I did). Other than that, the three model years are identical. In an ideal world, I would own an Imola Red Roadster and an Interlagos Blue Coupe.

Instead, I added a Sakhir Orange M4 Coupe to the stable last year. Now I have my own track car and don't have to share the 335is with my wife anymore. The Z4 M has regrettably never seen track use, something about roadsters needing full roll cages or some such thing.

Driving the 2006 Z4 M Roadster back-to-back with the 2016 M4 Coupe certainly shows the difference that 10 years makes in automotive technology. I love them both though, and their differences only make each one more desireable on its own merits.

I look at cars all the time, sometimes feel like I'm cheating on my Z4MC. I'd love to have the right P-car, (love the 993's) and a bunch more but then I see the MCOUPE in the driveway.....fuckin' good looking' car.

Agreed! Thank you for the kind words - and folks do move on from even the greatest of cars, helps to plant the idea that you might be interested especially if it is well taken care of.

Exactly! Sometimes the idea of a >10+ year old car gets to me without a dedicated DD to back it up, and so I have shopped the Focus RS, Miata ND and still looking to drive an M2. At the end of the day I doubt anything short of 911 or Lotus could match the experience and sense of occasion.

Excellent collection, sir! I crossed paths with a roadster the other weekend on a perfect spring day, tad jealous I couldn't drop the top. To be honest, I pulled the engine figures from google search and wikipedia, blame them for the error. I do have an intake and exhaust, doubtful I am netting much in terms of gains especially 10 years into the life of the car.

My only fault in the new cars is knowing I will never be able to easily maintain or complete work on it myself. I have no doubt the M4 is a rocket.

I also have the excellent Stromung exhaust and the aFe intake. I think that they're good for aural pleasure, but not so much for actual gains. Sure sounds good though!

How is the fitment on the Stromung? Mine tends to poke out a big and sags excessively, hoping new exhaust hangers and rubber bits help tighten the alignment with the bumper.

Good write up! I agree with most of it but the 6/10 for the 228 exterior and 7/10 for the Z4M. I think the spread is far greater but I am also biased.

Mine can't drive my Z4M because she doesn't know how to drive a manual and has no interest in learning. I can't see a good reason I should try to convince/teach her or anyone else to drive my car.

Have you tried to adjust is up? I have it and think it fits fine although if I cared more I might adjust it up another 1/4".
