wrong oyster seat replacement :(

i cant believe it!!!! i just had my rear left (luxury) seat replaced under warranty bcoz of a tear. after the install, the leather matched perfectly, "however" the sidings that surround the seatbelt buckle and the skirting underneath the seats that hides the mechanical arms when the seats are raised is "Cloth" and Not "Leather"!!!!! wtf!!!!! dealer has agreed to check on it again though...but it has been 7 months since i had it ordered.

i cant believe bmw makes two (non-nappa)oyster seats....one with leather throughout, and one with plain cloth for its undersides!!!!!! and i really cant accept a reason that bmw has "cut corners/costs" lately and that only cloth undersides are available.

I don't think it's a matter of "cut corners/costs"...

BMW offers different levels/grades. You may (or may not) know/recall that you can order the interior with different finishes. For example, BMW offers the leather seating in extended leather and full leather. Only the full leather option covers all areas with real leather. IIRC, they offer cloth, leather, extended leather and full leather. On top of that you can then get the individual option that will/may include such things as the headliner in leather, etc.

I think it's more likely that your dealership made a mistake in ordering the wrong part.

original with leather/suede side inserts

replacement with cheap loose fitting cloth inserts

Maybe BMW is now...being cheap go check out a new version of your car at the dealer and see if it's the same? That will tell ya.
