This is sad news for the 4.0 owners if and when it happens, but makes complete sense BMW would offer the 4.4 to those who would be enticed by a final finale of the naturally aspirated M experience as opposed to a newer/more powerful model such as the RS5 that many such as myself are eagerly awaiting.
I too believe this is going to happen sooner then later. It would definitely hold off any buyers on the edge of deciding between the new upcoming RS5 or a 4.4L M3.

This is the E92 M3 BMW should have built in the beginning. 3200lbs sounds delicious. This is the car separates the wanna be drivers from people who love to drive.

So is the quoted weight the standard BMW (EU) weight (i.e. with driver etc) or is it the DIN weight (i.e. no driver etc)?

That rear spoiler is too ricer for my liking...functional I'm sure but really does not suit the sleek shape of the coupe...

I am keeping my fingers crossed this happens for the estimated March LCI. Seems hard to believe they would put the work into this for 25 cars per year- especially when the competition has stepped up their game. If this happens my decision to get an M3 will be made.

+1, I said the same thing earlier.

UPDATE on the limitation: Kai Segler told the German AMS that they would be happy to build 99 cars. So it's not that bad. Still no official word on US availability, though.

Best regards,
south

That is exactly what I estimated as cost for the people crying about it being "overpriced at $171,000" just by using conversions without any kind official statement about pricing in US.

A more apt price comparison -- assuming the M3 GTS makes it to the U.S. at all -- would be using the assumption that the car might sell for the same proportion above the regular M3 Coupe as it will in Germany. That would place the M3 GTS' price at about $98,000."

I just looked at the US press page. Unfortunately, it states:

"Information from editor: *Information only; This model is not currently planned for the North American market"

Best regards,

It's the DIN weight:
