I don't understand how the M3 is not in this recall as it uses the same axles as the 1M...

Haha, I still haven't gotten the airbag recall performed! Always being fed the BS line that 'parts aren't available'
Really wanted to keep this car for the long haul, but I guess they just weren't made to last. Sad. |

Just discovered the actual CV joint is the same though. Hmmmm...but thats completely different from the joints on the rest of the vehicles. I think they've made a mistake putting the 1M in the list.

I dont think so, the CV joint is completely different on these cars.
Ours is shared with the E60 M5, F10 M5 and a few other M cars.

Please realize that the airbag recall is a supplier issue. BMW is actually doing the recall on Takata's behalf. Takata has an endless amount of airbags that need to be recalled across many Automobile Manufacturers. So although you may think the "parts not available" line is BS, in this case, it is not. The recall through all the affected Manufacturers is going to take Takata years to complete.

Only a mere 2 million BMWs are affected .. BMW should have gotten that done in what .. 30 days or so ? Try not to get too impatient while scrolling down the list of updates to the article above. |

These parts have been available since day one. What's with the need to spread lies on the internet?

Fun!
The right CVD on my 2013 built F31 330d broke way before the 2nd August 2016. So the problem is older and cars built after 2012 are affected as well. It snapped when pulling away from a traffic light at normal speed. Luckily, there was no further damage on the car. Imagining this happened on the Autobahn @ Speed 200+ still sends chills down my spine!

Might this have cause the vehicle to delay acceleration from a stop (or accel fro, very low speed like a rolling stop)? I have had issues where i will step on the go pedal and then it will take a second after the engine rpm revs to engage and i get a thunk and hard jolt forward and all is fine again.
Initially thoight it was an issue with TC lockup but this has me suspicious. |
