I've been a BMW fan since I was 2 years old. I am 30 years old now and have an E90. All I can say is the following: BMW has officially lost its way.

It pains me to say it, but I have been shopping recently to replace my 3 and after seeing what BMW had to offer and what it will be offering, I have drifted to other brands and plan on buying somthing else. They have lost their freakin' minds over there.

Although I am not shopping for a sedan currently, I just saw the new Audi A6 in person and have priced it out a few times on the website. All I can say is that I freakin' hate Audi with all my might and when I look at the A6 and see what it offers for the price, I can't think of a single reason you'd buy any BMW sedan when you can get the A6 today.

By the way, the 770 number is just a joke! What the hell are they thinking? Pretty soon the second number will be so high that they'll have to add a 4th digit to get it any higher... will they do that too?

Why can't they just make an M7 that rivals the S65 AMG and puts more horse power than a 760li.. Why do they have to keep beating around the bush with a M770i and crap like that.. And what kinda of car would an M770i with 475hp rival? the S63 AMG, S65 AMG, Audi S8 all produce way more power than a humble 475hp!!

Either you do it right! a proper M7 that can rival the S65AMG with 600hp+ or don't do it at all..

I think that hits the nail on the head. There are plenty of people out there who buy the badge, and you can't blame BMW for taking their money. IF there is a way to make profit, a company will do so. I don't buy BMW for the badge, I buy BMW for the combination of luxury, comfort, and the warranty and no service maintenance. It's still good value to me when you roll all of the factors into it. As someone who grew up loving the M3 and M5, yes I hope they keep those models pure to their heritage, but adding to the "M line" doesn't make me hate BMW. As long as the M3 and M5 continue to set the bar in their markets like the have historically, then I don't care if the M makes it's way onto other cars. I think everyone agrees that the new M5 (F10) is an incredible machine, and putting an M badge on a 7 Series won't change that. Judge a car on the merits of that car, and not the badge it wears...

Apple is still breaking revenue records quarter after quarter so apparently the world disagrees with you on apple products.

As for BMW M Performance cars, I won't pass judgment until I've driven one. But you have already apparently?

Can't stand these end of the world sky is falling overreactions sorry.
He is right, I was using Apple computers LONG before they became the "in" thing. Compared to what they were even 5 yrs ago they are total shit now. They have updates and issues all the time and their systems work more like a PC in reliability then a MAC.

More whoring of a brand......sad to see great companies fall.

Cheers,

I have been noticing the same. Young people dont buy Iphones anymore, even when they can afford it. Samsung/HTC/Sony its what they get now. Thats a bad omen for Apple. When a cool product or brand becomes to common, the trendsetters go somewhere else. Could happend to BMW too.

BMW has just announced:

A 135i will be placed inside a 335i, which will be inside of a 550i, which is finally put into a 760i. This new car will be called the 1780i, and the M version due out next spring.

Stay tuned.

Meh...What I consider to be an M7 (in terms of size, luxury and relative isolation) already exists...except it is now badged as an M5!

I'm hoping the new M3 will be more like an updated M5 (certainly based on size it will be).

M'eh, I'd like an utterly bonkers 7-er on my driveway, but an M770iWTF wouldn't cut it...

With no full on M7, my money.. if I had enough would be on this 100 times out of 100..

Most of the people who can afford these cars buy it for the prestige not for the performance. So why spend more, when you can spend less and still tell your buds you have an ///M?

Why not just call it a 740is? Don't even get me started on the whole sDrive xDrive non-sense. Have they completely lost it?

I've bought nothing but BMWs my whole life, but all of a sudden the Audi S and RS brand are looking quite appealing. I'll give up RWD, if it means I can have a real sports car.
Matt, YOU of all people are saying this?! Looks like working for Audi has either seriously corrupted you or you've seen a light that the rest of us haven't seen. If only Motoblog saw this...lol boos

Logically the M Performance version which would slot in between 750i and 760i should be called M755i, but if BMW's marketing considers this number to not look solid and attractive enough (no zero at the end...) than yeah they have no choice than to call it M770i... unless the 760i becomes 770i so that the M Performance version can be dubbed M760i... But the -60 has so long been associated to the V12 engine that 770i seems highly unlikely... who knows.

I guess the less bad and most logical solution would be M755i... which still sounds ok, but what if BMW decided to make a similar version of the 5 Series (along with the M550d), it would be called M555i... a bit weird
I disagree, M should always be the highest, and the M7 should be the equilavent of AMG's S65 (and we all know BMW's V12s tend not to be able to match the Merc-AMGs V12s).
If there is a market for a S63 and S65, then there is a markt for the M7, a market that I would to see BMW play in, as it would force AMG to bring even more bonkers versions of the S class---being the only game in town, makes the king lazy.

^^ Agree 100%!

What I can't understand is why BMW is getting so much flame for something they haven't even done yet.. but apparantly, based on this thread, BMW will go out of business if they make an M7..

I can only see positive things with an M7, because there is obviously a market for such a car. And I'm sorry but the other ///M cars will not be effected negativly by this car, quite the opposite actually.

Who here has seen the new F10 M5 and thought, if only they didn't make the X5 M.. then this car might have been something for me.??

And all this crap about the M-brand is not what it used to be drives me nuts. Everyone thinks that BMW should start to remake the E30 M3 and never ever stop building the V10 from the E60.. But the market changes, and the enviroment, and the competition, and the rules for building cars.
If Porsche survived going to water cooled 911's then I think the ///M brand can handle a 7-series..

Why are everyone so afraid of evolution and (most of all) more ///M cars? Shouldn't we applaud this?
I am at least.. bring on the M7 and show those AMG people how it's done!

As soon as they bring the 750Ld xDrive or 750d xDrive to the US, I place an order and put the F02 740Li xDrive I just ordered on lease trader.

Unnecessary. If you're going to M out a 7 series, take the V12 and go from there.

I don't see how a lower hp M model would be accepted. People that are buying that type of car are definitely interested in the "numbers"

how about-
BMW F01 7 series, in a short wheelbase with a shooting-brake roof, a QUAD turbo 6.75 liter V12 engine from the phantom, make the body from carbon fibre, slap an //M on it and call it the //M777 (looks cool does it not) and call it a day

-that, I would like to buy
