Their marker values are climbing insanely. Those things were $185k+ new, now sell for over $400k.

I can say that, from my limited experience, the 991 is a meaningful improvement on the 997 and the times the car is putting up (across all versions) is better. The 991 GT3 RS will be no different.
The new m3/4 doesn't come with a 4.0 v8 with 414hp like the previous one .. I rather have the 997 GT3 RS 4.0

Sure... your choice. A car isn't only about its engine I'd take a 991 over a 997. There's a reason 991's put up better numbers... they perform better But to each his/her own!

It's not only the engine .. It's the electric steering and no option of manual

It's not only about numbers

one of the reasons why the response to the GT4 Cayman has been so far reaching. Buyers who considered M3/M4's, Lotus Evora, GT3, Corvettes and GT-R's are noticing.

a car's ultimate straight line speed and track times sometimes are secondary to the feel of the driving experience.

launch control, electric steering, AWD, turbos and dual clutch transmissions all improve performance but do not enhance the driving excitement. Especially on the road.

Although they have the same displacement, the 991 engine is not a duplicate of the 997.

Rumors of a Cayman GT4 RS? Perhaps
How is it revolutionary?

For Porsche I suppose. The car generates the most amount of actual downforce for a production road car, no?

Seeing the wing that car has to have on it, I would say it's kind of the opposite of revolutionary. It's band-aid. Sure, they've done a lot of work under the chassis, where other manufacturers are concentrating these days, but this is territory all the manufacturers of fast cars have been in, although some do it without a huge high wing on the back.

Bigger wing seems like an oversimplification. Or maybe I am just sipping the coolaid.

The car has 30% more down force at the front axles. Overall, Almost as much as the GT3 Cup car. All while maintaining the same drag coefficient as the GT3.

350kg at 300kph, but also half that at 150

I am really loving the engineering and built purpose of this car.

I'm not hating on the car at all but there is nothing revolutionary about putting a fixed massive rear wing. That is the most basic way of getting down force. Revolutionary would be that same down force without the rear wing.

All just claimed numbers. They got such round numbers for their improvements lol, and since the car is pdk only, no real way to compare it to previous RS 4.0.

Ferrari claims 325kg at 250km/h on the 488 with no massive wing, and I won't even start with the P1 claimed numbers.

No. That would be the new Viper ACR. Produces almost 1 ton of downforce at 170mph.

When did I say it's a bad car? I just don't see how putting a massive wing is revolutionary. I never said putting a massive wing is a bad thing, just not revolutionary. Also, I think the previous RS 4.0 without electric steering and pdk is a better car. Doesn't mean I think this one isn't good.

all valid points. i see why you think the 4.0 is a better car, but the 991 version is the actual better car.

Better is subjective to ones specific needs. Most of us on here have our cars to satisfy an emotional need more so than an actual performance need. None of us would push a 991 or 997 to the limit that would actually warrant the performance differences between them in a real setting.

The 991 is a phenomenal and beast of a car that is very easy to drive. One of porsches intentions with the 991 was to make an easier car to drive that can take a good driver and make them put down track times of a great driver - but I too for some reason prefer the 997. I fully understand the technological advances in the suspension and admire the powerplant of the 991, however there is just something about the 997 that attracts me more emotionally.

I also would prefer a 997 GT3 RS 4.0, rather than 991.

you can probably buy 2 brand new 991 GT3 RS's for the price of an used 997 GT3 RS 4.0.

Revcrazy/Wolfinwolfsclothing will say it's groundbreaking and has the best aero of any car, or aircraft for that matter, in existence.
