To be fair, Adolf Hitler graced the cover in ‘38 so it’s not a man of the year for good things nessasarily.

Better to ask your doctor but I recall my wife, who had never had chicken pox, getting some kind of booster vaccination a few years ago. Chicken pox in an adult is supposed to be much worse than what I had as a child.

What do you mean eligible? If youre alive I guess youre eligible to get shingles.

Which is exactly why you take your kid to any local CP party, or host if yours comes down with it first.

IF you get the vaccine, it requires a booster every decade. Then MAYBE you get the next one because school/college. Now we are into late 20s/early 30s. And with your own kids, work, stress, mortgage, . . . you don't go see the Dr., don't get that booster, and then the kids bring home the pox. You are in a world of hurt.

AND THEN you get shingles. Gee, thanks mom/dad.

I'm no MD, and I didn't sleep at a holiday inn last night, but I always thought that you needed to be infected with the CP virus initially, then it later resurges as shingles.

Yep, born before there was vaccine so had it as a kid. Need to get that shingles vaccine to hopefully avoid that!

I had it at 19. Basically it's Hell for 6-8 weeks and you aren't fully better for about 6 months. I'd take a broken bone per week for 6-8 weeks over dealing with Chicken Pox as an adult. I received the shingles vac because it appears to be Multi-colored Hell from the photos I've seen. :thumb down

Edit: I haven't posted any medical photos in a while and thought this would be a good place to restart!! You're welcome...I'm here to help.

I had CP at 5, Shingles at 12, and it is absolute hell for a long duration. Still have occasional nerve pain and in that area appper from time to time 25+ years later. Only Acute Pancreatitis has it beat on my list of
experiences I never want to endure again.
