What shock? - more internet outrage? more YT views?

This was announced IIRC well over a year ago in one of the budgets.
Only applies to new cars over £40K.

meh... next.

I've always thought they should scrap VED altogether and just tax fuel (even) more. Then people who do more miles and/or have big thirsty engines pay more tax and the peeps with small engines or doing very few miles, pay less. Surely that is fair? Then they just keep adjusting the fuel tax rate up and down to maintain the revenue needed to finally sort our terrible road network.

Imo, it will just be absorbed into the total price of the car.. I don't think it will put off anyone who wants and can afford to run an M.

Garage List
2016 BMW X5M  [0.00]
2011 BMW X5M  [9.00]
So this is not sales tax, this is just registration fees? You guys pay 20% sales tax on vehicles correct? Then1600 to register a car, lets say 55k M4, over the first 6 years? Yikes.

More taxes to improve roads? We'll see......but I'm skeptical

Heck, even with all the road taxes, the UK government still can't do something about the M25 (which is the most congested roadway system in all of Europe)

And thanks for commenting also on YT as it helps more people see it Black.

There is a sales tax of 20% yes but that is the same as you
Plus a first year fee
Plus a fee every year 2-6
Then it reverts back to smaller fee.

Meaning... this is going to make major issue to the sales and used car sales.
