The 718 Build Configurator is live
http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/718/
$55k for a base trim Cayman and $68k for base trim Cayman S. With basic options the Cayman rises to $65k and the Cayman S to $80k. Yikes. |

Now that they're all turbo is there really a point to paying 13k for the "S"? Won't a Cobb tune solve this or is the extra half a liter really worth 13k?

I thought I would never say this but after browsing Porsche site and building a few models, now BMW/Audi feel very affordable to me. |

I'm a Porsche owner (Cayenne turbo) but spending $100k on a 4 cylinder car is not my cup of tea, regardless of how well it performs. After all, it's just a Boxster. For that kind of money just get a base 911 and drive an automotive icon.

You're right about the VTG in the S. It's getting increasingly difficult to find a car to eventually replace the M3

LOL. Mine ended up being about the same. I'd rather just get a used 2014 911 or something of the like.

You're also paying for Porsche 'heritage', not just the car. I'm not a cylinder snob, but 4-cylinders usually sound very uninspired. I would also say they're not as smooth but I'm sure Porsche puts enough voodoo to make it smooth. Just listen to the sound in this video
I can only imagine that the current H6 Boxster/Cayman will hold their value pretty good. |

apart from the VGT the boxster S also has a 2,5L engine instead of a 2L engine

Kind of sucks that if you want a six-cylinder in a BMW or Porsche (or any car for that matter), you have to get the highest trim - basically paying more for the other stuff you don't want.
(Guess you really got to pay to play...) |

My 718S build is around $90k. Good thing golf clubs don't fit in it... I don't want to be tempted to spend that much.
