This is not the final interior.
This car is prepared to be used at the set of the new 'Mission Impossible' only. No idea how final the exterior could be. I believe it solely depends on how much of it will be shown in the final movie. |

Yah sure introduce a car in a movie that will not exist in production. Why? Doesn't make sense on many levels. You think they will wait on the final movie before making decisions on the interior? Does that make any sense to you?

Is this reality?
For those saying "it's just a 7er, always bland" look at the E38 era of straight, clean, purposefully understated exterior designs. This is abysmal. If there is any trickle-down of design and this is a preview of future 3 and 5 series then this will be a bleak stretch for BMW. |

G11 will be already presented at IAA in Frankfurt in September 2015. 'Mission Impossible 5' is being filmed right now. I.e. they need the new 7er for filming, but of course it does not make sense to show the interior to the film crew long before the official presentation in September 2015. So doesn't this make sense? |

I was wondering how many posts it would take to get to the S class is better. Took longer than I thought. Not a knock at you at all, I just knew it was coming eventually.

I hope the next 5 series doesn't look like that from the back!

The differences between F01 vs G11 will be just like those between E70 and F15.
I see a lot of negative comments..about g11 not being so special as benz w222. Lets face it, none of 7 series ever looked more posh or special than S-class. But i personally never liked the way S-class looked, I think it is built just for the sheikhs, it always looked so bling bling. BMW 7er always looked like an athlete in a suit (except e65). And for those who say the rear end looks like an Audi, keep in mind that BMW did that earlier than Audi, and BMW was first to introduce the L-shaped tail lights. Some may say this g11 is ugly, but ill say at least is not boring like an Audi a8. P.S and if BMW were to make 7er so special, who would buy the Royce. |

As a interim job during Christmas break, i got a job as at the detail shop of a Mercedes dealer and over the past two days, I've driven the GLA250, CLA45, new C400, new E class, new S Class and the S550 Coupe Edition one. With the exception of the E-Class I think all the Mercedes beat BMW with which their paired against. The new S class is a fantastic car, especially the Coupe. I drove it to get gas in it, and as I was filling up, at least five people took pictures

Still to early for the final judgement, but I hope the next 5-er will get less chrome.

Putting aside the discussion about whether this will be the final production, or if this version is up to our expectations or not, whether BMW is up for the challenge with its rivalaries MB or audia,...all put aside...
Here's the tip of the discussion for me: As a long standing BMW driver, I'm never an enthusiastic about MB and their Sclass. To me, this car is extremely ugly, boring, old fashion design, and I would NEVER buy an S class if it was 75% off...even if BMW had NO product line to compete with. On the other hand AUDI has never given me the thrill of OH I WANT THAT MODEL. And trust me, with every BMW that I purchased, I tried, tested and gave a good thought on the Audi same class. Never could. It doesn't give me the brand satisfaction that I want. So I guess the bottom line is for all true BMW lovers out there: If this is the final production, could BMW have come up with a better design? Most definitely. Is this a disappointing job, compared to BMW lovers's ALWAYS HIGH expectations? Most certainly ...after all, if I had any lower expectations, I would have ended up with an Sclass! But would this speculative design be a failure? I highly doubt. Because I would buy this over a S, in a heart beat. The interior is certainly alive, design is passionate and joyful. Will it highly sell? I would predict so. And don't forget, what we are comparing is a "half pregnant" photo somewhere in a garage vs. Mercedes-benz 's advertising, photoshopped, ready to go pictures. Designs of the cars are personal tastes IMO. Mercedes-benz are vvery ggood ccars, but can never capture my taste for design in any series, because their designs are NEVER driver centric. A flat dull dashboard all across with no proportionate definition. BMW wins the design everytime for me...and again, this is always a personal taste philosophy Mercedes-benz lovers' mentality : "I need to show others what I'm driving" BMW lover's mentality : " I need to love what I'm driving" ... my 2cents... What everyone is forgetting- this sets up the 8 and 9 series perfectly.
The 8 Series will be the sporty version, The 9 will be the ultra-luxurious. The 7 will become the hum-drum, normal, everyday large sedan. If this looked like the concept, what room would they have for the 8 and 9? Remember, its B (Marketing) W. |

This new 7 cockpit is back to Bangle's Buttonless Bimmer. My current 7 requires no less than 10 buttons to start the car: 1. Start car 2. Turn off ass 3. Turn on active seats 4. Turn on auto hold 5. Turn on sport suspension 6. Turn on heated seats or vented seats depending on conditions. 7. Turn on rain sensing wipers 8. Turn on heated steering wheel. 9. Turn on auto high beams 10. Turn on night vision (All this and neither radio or nav or gear selected). |

Let's tilt the (unprepped) BMW 7er to compare with the Audi A8 tail lights design.

Is it me or the steering wheel looks almost identical to the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT?
The whole design looks bland to me. Good luck BMW, but I think Audi and Mercedes are ahead of you. |
