The FIA looks really stupid and indecisive. First they announce that the incident of Ves cutting the corner would be investigated "after the race" despite the obvious fact that it would directly impact who goes on the podium. This created a very dangerous situation with Ves blocking Vettel and allowing Ricardo to catch up and make one desperate attempt at a pass. I understand giving Ves a penalty. Vettel had caught up and was positioned to pass him. After running off track, Ves's own team told him to give up the position. Had he done so, Vettel would have likely finished 3rd and Ricardo would not have gotten near him in time for the finish. By not ruling immediately on the first action FIA created a dangerous situation with all three drivers feeling like there were no rules in effect.

Relating to Hamilton's supposed turn 1 corner cutting.

One thing Vettel outbursts over the radio has revealed, he must be under an immense amount of pressure at Ferrari to produce.

Vettel is the biggest cry baby in the history of F1 motorsport.

Yes, but...I think he's justified here. Admittedly, I haven't gone back to watch replays of the last laps - but, seeing it real-time, I didn't think he was wrong for calling out Charlie. If anything, Vettel loosing third after the race shows how political F1 is...

All of them are under pressure to produce. Add to that how competitive they are. Then add to that Vettel's title of 4-time world champ.

I'll say Max has some pretty big balls. More than Lewis at similar age. Lewis did a lot of dumb maneuvers in his rookie season that cost him the title. I haven't really seen that from Max yet.

I don't share thisl. VET did not pass VES and as such VES did not gain an advantage. Driving an open wheeler over the grass is hardly pleasant. Both where racing for a position, so VES was in his full right to defend the 3rd place. Under the pressure of VET, he made a mistake, but squeezed his buttocks and held his speed on the grass. It would be different if VET was even an inch past VES.

That ithe FIA ruling becomes ridiculous, I agree. But for goodness sake.. its racing and if you don't have a desire to win or to finish in front of your your opponent, you have no business on the track. Otherwise, we could vote for grid positions and they go in "commuter traffic format" in 70 rounds to the checkered flag.

I think that there is a shockwave going through the F1 world. All of a sudden there is a racer between them again. Horrifying.....

It's FIA fault for having creating this idea that it's ok to cut the corner if you don't gain a position. It's an absurd idea. If you overcook a corner to a degree that you can't defend your position ON the track you should not get a way with defending your position by going off the track. Simple as that.

We're very close to agreement..... at least for the rules part: let them race, create tracks that don't allow advantages by shortcuts, i.e. gravel traps.

VES locked up under pressure, but as soon as he locked up, he let off the brakes and realised that HAM had not lost anything in lap 1, so he willingly took the risk and deliberately leapt through the grass. He did not go on the grass because there was no other way of solving his "problem" Even though I think he deserved the penalty, I thoroughly dug what he was doing!

anyways: I also love the fact that one guy barely past his puberty is shaking up the F1 and there are at least 4 or 5 rules altered because he is always on the edge of what is allowed..... F1 needs to be shaken up a lot more....

That's when Trump and Bernie comes in, build a wall.

Ok, just kidding and a bit extreme, gravel traps should provide enough obstacles and slow the driver enough. If you make a mistake, you should be penalized, not just "did not gain advantage". By not losing anything, the driver had already "gained" something.

Or like in Singapore or Monza, force driver to drive on the long way around adn join at a designated exit (Singapore/Sochi), or zig-zag before re-join the racing track (Monza, Suzuka).
