Have now had my 750 back for a bit and my report:

1. performance is visibly improved. The motor rocks (or is back to really rocking -- I hadn't noticed how much it had sagged a bit by 60k). It's an amazing performance vehicle given the size and weight.

2. My gas mileage is actually better by about 3 mpg. It's still awful at 16 but better than Aston Martin territory.

3. I am charging the car every night using a BMW charger, using the under the hood connections. Every night, the battery needs the charge (amber light) for several hours, minimum and usually overnight. It's not the PITA I thought it would be but clearly the motor on this thing eats batteries, as noted elsewhere.

Ok.. So I got the car on Monday after they replaced the fuel injector on cyl 6. The same night I tried manual mode to see how it does past 5000+rpm and I get the Drivetrain malfunction message again. Took it to the dealer again for diagnosis today morning. They called in the evening and told me they swapped the injectors from cylinder 6 to 7 and took it for a test drive and the DMF message came again due to cylinder 6 misfiring. Now that proves its no the injectors so they are waiting for advice from BMW. Looks like I have to drive the 3 series loaner for at least week now.

TXSTYLE I did ask my service guy to check with BMW on what kind of warranty I would get for this job that they are doing. Hopefully I will get a reply from BMW tomorrow on this.

I thought I was lucky that the previous owner had extended service contract PL and Maintenance program for 100k miles but BMW still found a way to screw me by saying cup holders are not covered under ESC PL's bought before 2014 and made me pay 145$ for the part.

Haha! That is lame as fok.

I swear... What ever happened to "customer service and brand loyalty" (which affects just that!)

I'm headed in this week for a couple of Cylinder Misfires (particularly on # 8!)

I strongly suggest those of you who do NOT own a "Scan Tool" do yourself a huge favor and grab one.

Quick update : They found couple of "Roller Drag levers" broken inside the head. I have no idea how this could happen. But my cars Avg fuel consumption was 11mpg the past week. Since my car had the CCP done in a different dealership in Chicago(During previous ownership) they are waiting for BMW to approve the job work. I was told they may have to replace the cylinder head.

Can someone confirm if the cars Maintenance and extended warranty goes with the car and I (being the second owner of the car) don't have to pay for it?

INFORMATION
This bulletin outlines a customer satisfaction measure that has been designed exclusively for the BMW vehicles listed above. It involves the replacement of the 12-volt battery as a preventive maintenance measure.

This 12-volt battery replacement measure is:

Effective with repairs dated on or after January 1, 2015.
Applicable to vehicles that are still covered by the BMW Maintenance Program. This program is valid for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

If the battery was replaced previously within the last 12 months, then the battery replacement outlined below (combined with performing the engine oil service) is not necessary.

Please check the warranty claim history for the specific vehicle in the DCSnet Warranty Vehicle Inquiry to confirm if a battery was replaced in the previous 12 months.

Vehicles with an N63 Engine

Vehicles with N63 engines require additional cooling capacity, and the activation of the various cooling system components places additional demands on the battery.

Several enhancements have been made to the power management system on such vehicles. However, in a quest to ensure total customer satisfaction, please replace the 12-volt battery on a preventive maintenance basis at every engine oil service (engine oil service counter # 1, # 2, # 3, etc.), unless the battery was replaced within the last 12 months.

Note: The Key Reader/ISPA Light application will not show a “combined” battery replacement with engine oil service counter # 1 and # 3. Disregard this and replace the battery while performing the engine oil service.

Vehicles with an N55, N57, N63T, S63, or N74 Engine

To ensure total customer satisfaction, please replace the12-volt battery on such vehicles at the second engine oil service (with the engine oil service at counter # 2) only, unless the battery was replaced within the last 12 months.

CORRECTION
Replace and register the new battery; and for the models indicated below, upgrade the battery to the higher capacity.

Select and complete one of the procedures listed below, based on the vehicle’s engine variant.

VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN N63 ENGINE ONLY
This procedure only pertains to the models and production ranges listed above that are equipped with an N63 engine.

At every engine oil service covered under the 4 year/50,000 miles BMW Maintenance Program:
  1. Perform a Key Read on the vehicle and check to see if an engine oil service is “Recommended” or “Due” by miles or will be required in the next 60 days or less.
  2. Confirm the battery was not replaced previously during the last 12 months.
  3. If the conditions described in steps 1 and 2 are satisfied, replace the battery simultaneously with the performance of the engine oil service.
Important note: Do not perform an energy diagnosis for this battery replacement.
  4. Replace the battery with a 105 Ah battery (this is an upgrade from the originally fitted 90 Ah battery). Refer to ISTA Repair Instruction 61 21 010, “Remove and install or replace battery” and proceed to step 5b. The following exceptions apply:
If the vehicle is an E70 or E71 and was produced prior to 10/2011, replace the battery with the 90Ah battery and proceed to step 5a (these vehicles cannot accept a battery upgrade to 105 Ah).
If the battery installed in the vehicle is already a 105 AH battery, replace it with a 105 Ah battery and proceed to step 5a.
    Important note: F06, F07, F10, F12, and F13 vehicles will require an additional hold-down clamp (P/N 61 21 7 592 923), only if upgrading from a 90 Ah battery to a 105 Ah battery.
  5. Register the new battery using ISTA. Refer to SI B61 15 12.
    a. Select “Enter battery replacement: same capacity” if the same size battery was installed. The replacement is finished. No further steps are needed.
    b. Select “Enter battery replacement: higher/lower capacity” if the higher capacity 105 Ah battery was installed in place of the 90Ah battery. Proceed to the next step.
  6. Start an ISTA/P session using the latest version of ISTA/P.
  7. Select “Conversions/Retrofits” and select “Retrofit, 105 Ah AGM Battery” for the first replacement/upgrade only. Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
  8. After the programming is finished, the battery replacement is finished.
Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10).

VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN N55, N57, N63T, S63, OR N74 ENGINE
This procedure only pertains to the models listed in the attachment (based on the production date) that are equipped with an N55, N57, N63T, and N74 engine.

At engine oil service “counter # 2” only, covered under the 4 year/50,000 miles BMW Maintenance Program:
  1. Perform a Key Read on the vehicle and check to see if an engine oil service is “Recommended” or “Due” by miles or will be required in the next 60 days or less.
  2. Confirm the battery was not replaced previously during the last 12 months.
  3. If the results of steps 1 and 2 allow, replace the battery together with performing the engine oil service.

Important note: Do not perform an energy diagnosis for this battery replacement.

  4. Refer to ISTA Repair Instruction 61 21 010, “Remove and install or replace battery.”
  5. Register the new battery using ISTA. Refer to SI B61 15 12. Select the “Enter battery replacement: same capacity,” and then the replacement is finished.

$650 in tax AND no warranty?

Something seems off...

That sounds very shady! If it is indeed covered under this program, ALL costs should be covered. I'd get clarity from BMW corp and the Service Manager directly.

On my way to the dealer for this campaign. Had an appointment confirmed and called before heading out to confirm the appointment again and was told I wasn't in the system. After talking for a bit and explaining that I'm coming in for a recall (after which he said, no it's a customer care package) he let me know that they will replace the injectors and finish the work in 1 day. After rereading this thread I don't see how that's possible and after inquiring about a loaner, I was told that they have none available and I would have to go through enterprise which I find to be complete BS. My appointment was confirmed a week ago and they don't even have a loaner for me (live nearly 1.5 hours away). Will update after talking with the dealer...

Got the car back. They replaced all 8 injectors, the vacuum pump, and aome other stuff. Had an X3 28i X drive as a loaner which was actually quite pleasant to drive.

Warranty on CCP work

I had to asked multiple times on this but the warranty after the CCP-timing chain work is done is:

motor is covered for everything for 2 years, unlimited miles.

Or at least that's what they told me.

Interesting. I have read some dealers are stating 'no warranty on CCP repairs at all'. Guess I need to get something in writing from BMW NA...

Here is a link to a forum that I got my information from.

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1074012

I had a lot of this work done prior to this campaign coming out, BMW actually paid me back for the majority of the work.

Thanks! But I'm looking for the actual document. I remember reading that the bad fuel injectors can cause significant damage to other components in the engine including the piston rods. My car had the cylinder#1 rod cap bearing spun around and eventually gave away breaking the rod and the bolts were found broken in the oil pan. My car needs a new engine now.
