Yes, that is correct. BMW is a car manufacturer and they want to make money.
One way of doing that is to offer to the market what the market wants.

This is more an Individual build than an ///M.

Definitely whoever is running the show wants to pimp the ///M to all the Johns out there.

BMW Scientific Research has shown that the presence of an M badge on a man's coveted, but overpriced, BMW automobile increases the size of his penis by an average of 2 inches.

Enjoy your M badges, everyone.

I don't know about all of that, but I'm sure it beats Viagra.

Lol +1 wtf doesn't the V8 TT make more power?
Just like the 550i & 750i, it's all about TQ. The V8 biturbo only throws 450hp down, but massive torque at low RPM. I imagine this beast putting down well over 600 TQ at something silly like 1400rpm.

+1. Really disappointing if you as me. So let me get this straight. A 5.0 v8 produces 400bhp in 2001...in 2006 a 5.0 v10 produces 507bhp. Then fast forward to 2014 and a 6.0 v12 bi turbo only produces 30 measly bhp more than a n/a 5.0 v10 produced eight years prior. Heck, even without the turbos this engine should produce close to 600 bhp solely based on the engine size. This is what happens when BMW stops building real M engines and begins just putting turbo chargers on standard engines. What makes M engines so great is the fact they are practically race engines from the factory. Or...at least they used to be.

They must make an M7 with AWD and a 700 PS V12. That would be something.

M for marketing; which i would complain about, but the more of these they sell the more money they can put into research and development for actual m cars.

What's wrong slapping M badges on a BMW?
What makes you think this car is no good (small penis? what?)
It has a V12 engine and who the hell cares about the horsepower in a big family sedan?
i am sure the "V12" badges are more important to the buyers than the horsepower number.

Some of you folks need to travel outside the U.S. sometimes...

But if we left the US we couldn't be as blatantly ignorant of other cultures tastes!

Agreed! Only roughly 110hp more with twice the Engine setup of a M3? No Bueno. More power please

This is like apple.

Every year we get closer to the perfect spec, but only one tiny step at a time.

Just put this engine in a mid engined setup, let M modify it and crank up the boost pressure, give us a dedicated supercar.

Stupid

Let Mercedes build the useless v12's. You won't see this in the US because we've learned our lesson with the resale value of our older 760's and s600's. It was wise to let alpina offer the b7. I think I've seen 3 760's within this current model generation.

Everything if it doesn't live up to what the ///M badge was designed to stand for.

I never said the car wasn't good. (I can send you a pic of my ..... if you'd like.

Quote:

Lots of people. What is the point of sticking an ///M badge on it and building an elaborate bi turbo 6.0 v12 when they could've just stuck a warmed up S85 in the car to achieve the same if not more horsepower. Furthermore, it would've kept the cost down and been far easier.

Statisticians and yuppies maybe.

I totally agree with you on this one; but for tons of reasons. Don't get me started on how many Americans live in a bubble in their daily lives. It's astonishing to me that so many of us....see, there I go getting on that soap box. Sorry.

Lame. Leave the obsessive over-badging to Merc, they cover everything in sight with AMG trim.
