xenon light

Does anyone know how to change the xenon light for our 2011 740i? Does it require to take the whole front lamp apart in order to change the bulb? It was quite easy to change the parking lamp but don't see any room to change the low beam. Any clue ?

I'm pretty sure it's covered in the owner's manual. You can also download an electronic version of the owner's manual from the BMW website!

I assume you are referring to changing the regular bulbs to LED lights?

Changing Xenon low bean bulb

Unfortunately the owner's manual doesn't tell you at all. It saids .

Xenon headlamps
Because of the long life of these bulbs, the likelihood
of failure is very low. Switching the lamps
on and off frequently shortens their life.
If a xenon bulb fails, switch on the front fog lamps
and continue the trip with great care. Comply
with local regulations.
Do not perform work/bulb replacement on
xenon headlamps
Have any work on the xenon lighting system, including
bulb replacement, performed only by a
service center.
Due to the high voltage present in the system,
there is the danger of fatal injuries if work is carried
out improperly.◀
For checking and adjusting headlamp, please contact your BMW center.

I am sure someone might have experience on how to change the low bean bulb. Can someone chime in please?

The 7 uses a D1S Bulb so you can purchase D1S Replacement Bulbs to swap out. In regards to a DIY, typically you need to either remove the front bumper to slide out the headlight or go through the fender well to access the bulb.

Changing Xenon low bean bulb

Thanks for the reply. I got the 8500k D1s bulb. That was from my previous Mercedes E63 AMG. But looks like I will need someone to change it for me. Not sure how to remove that whole bumper thing. Is there a better way to change the low beam lol. I am afraid I will mess up the bumper and won't able to put it back hahaha.

On Pages 240 and 241 of the 7 series owners manual (2010 model year) you can find the information on how to gain access to the different bulbs in the headlamp cluster!
This might be on different pages in other model year manuals.

It's easy and no need to remove the entire bumper!

My manual in the car and the one from the bmw website, pretty much the same. It shows me how to get access/change the bulbs for others like parking lamp, signal, backup light.....etc. The only thing they don't tell is the low beam headlight. It saids only performed only by a service center.
