climate control part number...

I have aluminum trim, ceramic knobs, silver buttons and CD player in the climate control. What is the latest and correct part number?

What is the difference between 64115A48110 and 61315A48109?

VIN: G615201

It’s common for BMW to end a part number during production and succeed it with a newer number. You can see the original part number & its newer number along with the description of the part (either ceramics + CD drive or no ceramics+ no CD drive)

Old vs New part nbrs:
  • 61315A0A259 - 61315A48109 {no ceramic dials + no CD drive}
  • 64115A0A260 - 64115A48110 {ceramic dials + CD drive}

What you have said is what two dealers are saying as well. Which system are you using? How come realoem has the opposite for the older part numbers? Yes, realoem is out of date...

Found an actual ebay listing for part number: 61315A48109
It does have a slot but probably DVD & CD - not just CD. I think my car has DVD & CD - never tried it...

That slot is just a slot...the determination of what it plays DVD vs CD is based on the head unit behind the control panel, as item 1 shown below:

Understood - find attached an image of the control panel without a slot...

According to your posts #3 in this thread, https://www.7post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2087212, and that is indeed your control panel with a scratch on it, you need to get a control panel that has the slot above the radio preset buttons.

Hopefully Post #2 from Qsilver7, helped w.r.t. the P/N difference.

Keep in mind, there is a small chance you'd need to program the "new" controller to your car. A way around this is to transfer the Circuit Card Assembly inside your original controller over to the new controller.

Unfortunately, Qsilver7 edited his/her post and reversed findings. Two dealers are insisting that 61315A48109 is the correct part number which according to his/her post is without ceramic and without CD... However, I did find an ebay listing for 61315A48109 and it has ceramic and slot. So, I think the dealers are correct.

Try this online part database…unlike realoem.com and bimmercat.com….this site is up to date. It lists the the part that ends in 109 & correlates it with the old number that ends in 259 which is the unit with no ceramic & no drive: https://www.bmw-etk.info/parts-catalog/

This site has up to date numbers but is actually terrible for identifying the correct number. More often than not, it completely fails to discriminate between different option codes. Look at BEL module for example - it thinks it is all the same.

I remember this was replaced on mine in 2021. I have the ceramic and dvd drive but the panel they installed looks exactly what the LCIs have. I couldn't find the paperwork though, might have been shredded already.

Part number 61315A48109 was ordered. It looks exactly like the ebay listing with a slot for CD/DVD and missing button. If you look at the picture posted of the ebay listing there is a small plastic bag below the left side of the unit with a button. The dealer confirmed that the button is present in what they received and for some reason it is not mounted and it says BAND.

There might be installation or some specific procedure requirements that require this button not to be present on the panel, thus being shipped without it mounted. Just have them slap it in there.

The “button” with BAND on it is what is used in the US market…AM/FM/Satellite.

In Europe and perhaps some other markets…they have a button with a different icon since they have radio band options we don’t have here. Iin Europe, they have TRAFFIC INFO button beneath the MODE BUTTON (i.e. with the cars/antenna graphic), the music source (FM RADIO, DAB RADIO, USB, iPhone, Spotify, etc.) will be interrupted by traffic updates for the area you are in. The reports usually last 2-3 minutes, but on the display a message appears immediately giving you the option to cancel the current message by pressing down on the iDrive controller.
