750 sucks oil
i just read an article on wsj.com where a past bmw owner referred to his 2009 750li as "a oil sucking turbo charged dog" - have other current owners experienced this? i ask because i am considering a 2010 cpo 750i xdrive - thanks

I already had to add a liter and got charged for it at the dealership. I'm a little shocked a brand new 7 is burning oil, but according to BMW that's normal. I hope to God I don't wake up one morning and find a pool of oil in my driveway.

It doesn't make sense to charge you for the oil it burns when they claim all service is free for the first 4 years or 50k miles. I've gone in recently cuz my coolant was low, they topped it up for free at the dealership service section without any write up. Same with my windshield wiper fluid... Free fill up (I'm also outside of factory warranty too). I honestly think if u remind them that bmw has a free maintenance plan for the first 4 years/50k miles... They will top u up for free... But u gotta ask.

I have to add oil regularly to mine. I now see it very much like this - this is why I don't need to change it often. It gets a few liters of fresh one between the changes anyway

Burns oil
I'm a new member and I want to start a new thread on this issue - but it looks like I need to respond to 1 and wait 24 hours before I can start 1.

I got my 2012 750Li CPO, with 20k miles on it. Now at 30k miles, oil is still reading full. I guess I lucked out.

If I really get on the gas too much like I'm racing it, I notice that I get the "add oil" notification more often. So far it is only every 3 months or so. It doesn't seem like a problem and you don't smell the oil burning.
But all the power you get when you hit that gas pedal is worth adding a quart every once in awhile. |
