thought the car was in reverse but was in drive. honest accident.

Any damage underneath from the metal pole in the second picture?

You were planning to accelerate that fast in reverse!?

No. It is a common error. The brain perceives no movement in the rearward direction. The throttle is engaged at a higher than normal speed to compensate for the brain's failure to detect movement in the intended direction. The mistaken cues are not all visual.

By the time the brain figures out what is happening it's too late.

This is one reason you see this four foot steel poles in front of convenience stores.

It's been over a month and I have not heard anything from the insurance company.

Car was under my name but my mom was driving so Farmers is fighting with State Farm.
