so they get rid of the hood cutline and have those jumbo headlights joining the grill

The front looks like a buick

I think the Q7 looks gorgeous, aside from the fact it looks like a freaking wagon. If they had actually done the exact same design but in true SUV proportions and ride height, the Q7 would be killer.

But since it looks like a wagon, I agree it's unfortunately and unnecessarily pretty ugly.

Come on BMW, where is the "luxury"?

A full leather steering wheel is not enough in this class.
The interior looks like 1/2 or 3 series, just bigger.
Nothing new and nothing special!

Can't believe it

Okay they did a hack job of it, so hopefully the tech will be its redemption. I'm REALLY interested in that more than anything.

HUGE Disappointment with the Exterior and Interior Styling.
How is this supposed to go up against the Sclass???
What is up with the Audi A8 tails?

Not impressed. Rear window looks small, kind of like a CTS-V.

Woof- like wood, chrome just seems out of place on modern cars.

Looks like someone had to jump a few fences to get these shots. I'm sure the boys over at BMW are fuming about these being leaked.

I'm going to wait until I see better pictures before I pass judgement on the design.

What's wrong with wagons?

I think the Q7 is attractive. Looks like a big X3.

For something of its size, I much prefer it to the bumbly proportions of other true, 7 passenger SUVs.

I like it so far.

Granted, the car featured here is currently only a 730d variant and we're not yet sure if this is a base or mid-end configuration. Nevertheless, from what I can see so far, I do like what I'm seeing.

With that in mind, I'm definitely looking forward to the 760Li with M-Sport Package

P.S.
I'm not a BMW fanboy. I speak my opinion as a general car guy and automobile enthusiast so I have ZERO bias to any single car brand.

BMW was a much better design company when they had Chris Bangle designing cars that a vocal majority of customers hated, but so many loved, and that stood the test of time cutting new trends that were eventually knocked off my competitors years later. Look at the E60 5-series for example, they're only just starting to look dated and they were originally released over 10 years ago. Or the X6, all the WTFuggos comments when it came out, now it has created a whole new category with countless imitations.

As others in this thread have said. The BMW 3/5/7 series now might as well be called the S/M/L. None of them have any real unique design identity, but also none of them are really anything someone would point at and say they hate the design of.

Fortunately though it might look as bland as a Hyundai, you can be sure it won't feel anything like one. BMW still produces a damn good product. These photos are also probably very unflattering, the right color and wheels can make all the difference for a car like this. I find black wheels always look lousy, particularly on a car that isn't black.

Disappointed. That interior does not scream luxury. Nowhere close to an S-Class. The exterior looks like old luxury. Mercedes Benz's design team has it together.

The old Q7 was ok, but I'm talking about the new one which is plain ugly, the grill looks like it's off an 18 wheeler, and it has chrome slabs on the sides which look out of place... The rest is ok but looks like it could be from any of their cars from the past 10 years. Also there is nothing wrong with wagons/ crossovers.. Just don't market it as an SUV because it's not.

I kinda miss Bangle. This is good, but not BMW. The current and last generations of BMWs where so good looking. I was so exited when i looked at the first pictures off the e60, e92, f10 and f30. But this shit right here looks like a kia with kidney grills...

edit: I really wish that some one from BMW reads this tread. So they do not screw the 5-series, which seems disappointing too. judging from the spy photos.

Wtf is this shit. S-Class beat this sad excuse of a luxury car and this hasn't even been released yet.

Not as revolutionary as I'd expected...the only major improvement is the steering wheel which is very nice. The exterior looks more like an LCI rather than an ALL NEW design...
Let's see what the G30 brings to the table...

The designs of BMW went downhill ever since they let go of their head of design last year (or he left) and brought in someone else...that gentleman was brave enough to push boundaries and tackle some daring but out of the box designs...today BMW is sadly following a decade of mercedes-benz strategy.

Lol WTF is this??? The headlights touching the grille! Ugh! This is more like a LCI...it is ~90% like the existing 7 series with some weight savings and more tech, both of which are the norm with any new car that replaces the old model - economical or luxury.

BMW and Audi seem to find themselves pushed in to a tight corner as far as design goes. There's only so much one can do with the kidney grilles, the kink, etc. They really need better, more imaginative/creative designers. Not designers who more or less just slap on a "new" set of headlights and taillights and call it a day.

S class is MILES better! This car seems DOA.
