Most people use 255/30/22 front and 295/25/22 rear

Totally depends on the driving too man..

If you're driving hard, making quick turns... 22s might not be the ticket for you..
I was gonna go that route... but with all the potholes around me, kept it on 20s.

Here's some measurements for you when I was doing research:
STOCK rear: 275/35/20; 254mm width; 27.6" height
22 rims rear: 285/30/22; 267mm width; 28.8" height

STOCK front: 245/40/20; 216mm width; 27.7" height
22 rims front: 245/35/22; 229mm width; 28.8" height

I want as much as rubber as possible without sacrificing space, and notice the 22" rim/tire setup will make you equal in height in the front and the rear, as opposed to stock.

Hope it helps.

FYI. these were measurements for my car, and its dropped 2in all around.

Thanks for the info.

Would spacers be needed with my offsets on the 22's?

I doubt it.

With aftermarket low profile tires and terrible Los Angeles streets, I always run the max pressure listed on the sidewall.

I've hit a few small pot holes with no damage.

I have 22s on my 7-Series and I'm running 255/30/22 and 295/25/22.
You may want to look into some spacers because my set up is +28 front and +42 rear and I'm considering 5mm spacers in the front.
I am also on H & R Springs with no rubbing issues at all.
