Bimmerfest is reporting that the LCI B7 will retain the Switchtronic gearshift buttons mounted behind the steering wheel despite the incorporation of the new 8-speed sport automatic gearbox:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/news/62729...-luxury-sedan/

That's an odd decision given the shift paddles available on the optional sport automatic 8-speed on the F10. I thought steering wheel mounted shift buttons were what you used if you didn't have paddles available in the parts bin. :

interesting that the alpina has the new grill with the night vision camera integrated in it compared to the real life pics of the 2013 750Li which have the old night vision grill on it.

Via e-mail directly from Alpina:

Quote:
Specific enhancements to all four variants of the B7 include:

· 40 more horsepower (now rated 540) and 22 lb-ft more torque (up to 538 from 516 lb-ft) thanks to the addition of Valvetronic and an enhanced cooling system. Top speed is now a fierce 194mph (drag-limited, 193mph with xDrive). 0-60mph acceleration drops into the low-mid 4-second range for all variants (4.3-4.4 seconds).

· New ALPINA 8-speed sport automatic gearbox (known as “Switchtronic” thanks to its classic gearshift buttons mounted behind the hand-finished ALPINA steering wheel).

· New frontal aerodynamic treatment including updated ducting for coolers.

· Ceramic secondary controls are now standard.

· Updated Xenon Adaptive headlights with revised eyebrow lighting.

· LED front fog lights.

· Updated tail lights.

· Automatic Start-Stop.

· Active Protection.

I love it.

And I wasn't a huge fan of the styling of the Alpina b7 until I saw one in person last week and I must say the car looks amazing in person, pictures don't do justice.
