Good job posting that thread, quick reference as I was searching for different rims online

Every package in HK you have to pay 100% tax when ordered with new car. I try my best to keep the packages to the minimal. iDrive in the back was not my priority lol

I remembered if you ordered the iDrive in the rear seats you also have to ordered the comfort seats in the back. I need 3 seats in the back most of the time. Plus HK driving is short distances mainly.......TV in the back is basically useless already.

I ordered the standard TV as that is the OEM package offer by BMW HK with comfort seats in front.(no double taxing involve).

Packaging for rear comfort seats with iDrive is HKD$30,000-$40,000=US$5,128 before tax... use this money on the rims instead..... as I think others would have

7erMOB,

I am from HK as well and just got my 740Li and wanted to change my ugly 18 in wheels. Did you decide on which size and make to change? I am only considering going up to 19 in probably in the 252 style because of ride comfort but I am interested to learn if any one felt the ride comfort (road noise and bumpiness) suffered in going from 18 in to 20 or 21 in wheels. I am sure just going away from RFT would help already. Thanks.

The 18's are indeed ugly........ I am not sure about your budget, but for me I would not go to the 19" way as the price you paid for a small difference(unless that is what you want from a comfort standpoint).

HK roads are good enough for 20" tires. I am receiving quotes from different Forged wheels company so haven't done anything yet.

I also need RFT just in case as I will be crossing the boarder alot with the 7er. For the noise and comfort, the twin turbos overlap the wheel noise after 3,000rpm lol so I am ok with it.

I was originally quite keen to get HRE's Monoblok since I am using the same for my M3 and they have L models specifically for the load of the 7-series. Unfortunately, they only come in 21" and 22" and my car is mostly chauffeur driven so comfort is a high priority. However, I was able to find a pretty new set of style-252 BMW alloy's on the internet which are 19". They could be perfect for me but they come with Pirelli Pzero RFT so not sure if the ride is any good.

Wow absolutely beautiful. I wish I had the entertainment package for my daughter lol. Nice Hong Kong view, I miss it. I supposed to go back there visit my parents once a year but my wife is pregnant. They are coming over here to L.A instead. Plus they get to sit in my new 740i lol.

I am still testing the LED bulb for the Angel Eye. Might go with HIDs if the LED still not bright enough. I just did the FOG light yesterday with 8000K.

In HK, those rabbit camera will definitely help LOL. Too many crazy drivers there hahahahaha

Was reading posts that it would not come with the side camera package but in fact it did (ordered FEB 2010) and with TOP VIEW package! Guess only US 7er owners are out of luck. no offense guys! I was ready to scream at my SA if it did not come with the side view package and he never gave me the notice like the 7er owners in US when ordered from FEB-APR. All in all very happy with the camera package as it helps alot in tight parking spots in Hong Kong.

Engine:
This car still uses the same Twin Turbo instead of the new one found on recent F10 535i & E92 335is. Compare to 750 V8 its not slow at all, the difference is there but not noticeable in city driving. Test drove 750 b4 and it has higher speed and more power from 70mph+. Haven't really try sport mode yet, cause it will rev to more than 4k rpm (only has 1600km on it) For sure with sport mode the handling and gas pedal sharpens to what a Bimmer is known for.

Wheels:
Ugly as hell.......... with stock 234 18's. DUNLOPS RFT doesn't do it either with stock tires. However the ride is nice for a luxury car and I haven't experience the RFT effect YET. BMW HK charges 100% tax on OEM wheels when ordered together that's why did not order a set of 303M 20's wheels.

Looking at HRE 20's and ADV.1. wheels but not yet decided. HRE's monoblock does not support 20's for the weight of our 7s. It has to be P40L and other "L" series which is 21"-22". I am determine not to use 21's because the tires are rare and is useless for me using this car cross boarder in China. I plan to use P ZERO RFT with 20's. Michelin PS2 and PS3 does not have our BMW stock 20's size.

Any recommendations? I am running low on options.

Angel Eyes:
All of ya know stock AE is yellowish so I switched them to MTECH 4350k H8, mix results was what I think. Its not as yellow for sure, but its also not bright nor even close to white.

Really want LED like the new 5GT and F10 5 series.
Note: camera is D90 F/9 ISO200 1/5 sec.

ENJOY!

Did you use LED for your fog lights they look very blueish. Also your AE seems more white than stock, what are you using right now?

PS: rabbit cameras are VERY useful in small parking spaces in HK! Just wish I didn't have to press the parking sensor button all the time to activate it and the rabbit eyes.

No, LED is not as bright as the HID. I am using a 8000K HID KIT for the fog. My previous Mercedes E63 AMG had the same applications and looks amazing. So I wanted to do the same on my new 740i. Sometimes its hard to judge the color when taking the picture. In real live, it is lighter blue. White blueish. I was using my iphone to take the pic. That could be bad.

Now the Angel Eye topic :-( Our stock ones are yellowish, I tried different bulbs. Here is my write up on other forum http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=483299

The china made LED bulb looks whiter than stock but it is not powerful enough to shine the outer ring. The inner AE is bright but not the outer one.
My alternative will be using HID, but my concern is the power. It probably need to draw more power from the battery and lots of cables connect to it. Which i don't want to. So I am still doing research on which bulb is good.

Since you are in Hong Kong, you should have more chances to check out different LED bulbs they make over there in china. Here I don't have many options. By ordering them from china, it takes forever to have them deliver here to the US, and result just BAD.

Since the china made LED didn't work out, I switched it back to my "GPthunder bulb". This is what I have on my car for now. It is not too white though. But better than stock yellowish.

If you have time, can you check out this type of LED bulb in Hong Kong.
I wanna see if that is bright enough to shines both inner and outer rings.

I also want to change my stock low beam head light to Higher Kevin , so I can match the fog light. But BMW make it so complicated. Unfortunately you can't even reach that area. I believe I need to remove the front bumper and the headlight out in order to change the bulb. That sucks.
If you guys know a better way, please chime in.

7erMOB, since we like the car so much, we gotta do some appearance changes hahahahah. Those yellowish thing must be gone. But trust me. You will definitely like the 8000K fog and low beam. They look amazing.

Hong Kong doesn't have 740i, all the models are long wheel base models.

The 740Li Vantage (5 seater but no SatNav, front comfort seat and TV in back) $1,198,000
The 740Li 5-seater $1,398,000
The 740Li 4-seater $1,468,000

Ah ic. But what does it mean by 4-seater? Doesn't all 7 series fit 3 people in the back?

4 seater means the Rear Comfort seats option is included. Two individual comfort seats that can be adjusted. Only two sets of seat belts in the back so cannot legally put a third person in the middle in the back. It is flat in the middle between the two seats but is storage and not a seat, basically, you are expected to have arm rest down the down time.

This should not apply for 7er models made after Sept 2010. (Correct me if I am wrong)

As I have read somewhere that with comfort seats in the back you will also get 3 seat belts in the rear, meaning 3 seats. The storage will change to a seat that is not adjustable.

If ordering, should check with your local BMW dealer for confirmation.

Kelvin,

Since you are going to get the 740IL in HK, can you check if this whiteline tailights is available for our 7 series ? Not sure if this is available in BMW Dealer in Hong Kong.

I can't find them here in United States.

I heard this is only for 5 series.

I finally got these bulbs and installed on my car. Here is the result. I am happy with it.

I also installed a 8000K D1S bulb for the low beam to match my Fog.
It was extremely different to change the low beam since I didn't remove the bumper and headlight.

Sure does look good but will it affect warranty? Who changed it for you?

I changed it myself. It will not void the warranty. Just only a bulb. Unless you do major tuning on the car like ECU remap, engine modification....etc. All my friends got their lights modified and took their car for services. They didn't say anything at all.

Where did you buy the bulbs from and just 2 bulbs needed? Can I buy it online?
