Glad you enjoyed the video. I had a great time putting that together. And full credit goes to my partner who dutifully followed me around the Welt and Museum to capture my reactions, etc. He had the tough part of capturing everything, and I had the easy job of editing it together. You should have seen the look on the delivery specialist's face when I pulled out my suction mounts and mounted video cameras on the driver's door and roof. LOL!

And, yes, I sure did break it in Put a little over 1400 miles on the car while driving in Europe. Munich > Schwangau > Zurich > Cernobbio > Milan > Monaco > Geneva > Frankfurt. Lots and lots of great autobahn sprints. I highly recommend European Delivery. With the right amount of planning, it can be a spectacular vacation. You won't regret it.

Thanks! Am really loving this car, and all the options and material selections I made. Some of them (matte wood, ceramic controls, etc.) were made sight unseen at the time of ordering, so I'm thrilled they look even better than I expected.

Nice break in route! I did a 5,000km road trip in the late 90's from Franfurt, Munich, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and it was a blast... even in a 1997 VW Golf. Cant wait to try it in a BMW that will later follow me home

I have a few contenders that want to come with me if I do an ED... I just wont tell them that they will need to double as a camera man until we get there

And the ownership experience just got even better due to the new BMW Remote app for iPhone finally being released in North America. NICE!

Liked the video. Wish I did the European Delivery with my 2012 740i also. Was it difficult to drive such a large car in Europe?

Not as tough as you'd think. Especially with all the tech packed into the 7. I think it'd have been much tougher if I didn't have integral active steering (4-wheel steering), the top and side view camera package, and the local European maps loaded into the Nav system. All of those capabilities combined to make for a very fun time driving, and a minimum of stress on narrow roads and highways. Got the car back here to the States without a scratch.

Car looks amazing and nice pictures! I totally agree with the choice of the 740, can't go wrong with that engine and fuel economy will not be much worse than with the heaver hybrid. Plus you can get all the good super-premium options

When/if I do an ED, I will first make sure my compañero can opperate a camera well and won't piss him/her self on the nordschleife/stelvio, 155 on the autobahn, etc. Beyond that I'm thinking some sort of foot race or cage mach!

Hah! Yes, you'll have to spring it on 'em! I'm lucky in that it took very little arm twisting to get my partner to be the camera man.

Wow. I am jealous . I just got a 5 series and totally forgot about the ED program until seeing this. Now you have me wanting to go to Munich to go see The Welt. What time of the year did you go? Seems like the weather was perfect.

Indeed, it was a great experience. Will do it again the next time I buy a car for sure! And, for the record, the diesel model isn't available in the US market.

Nice! I love the look of the 5 series. Congrats! I do have a short clip of us driving between Münich and Zürich. Weren't going very fast by autobahn standards (the route was speed limited) but much faster than I'd be able to legally drive here in the US. I think we were going 100 MPH. Will search for that and will post to YouTube if I find it.

I wish I'd captured video of the drive from Monaco to Frankfurt. There were stretches along that route where I was able to get the big 7 up to it's seed limited 155 MPH for sustained periods of time. We covered a lot of ground in a very short amount of time. Was totally exhilarating. Now that I'm home and back on the pokey California highway system, I sometimes feel as if I'm going to fall over sideways for lack of momentum! LOL!

Congrats on the 5. We went in the middle of September and stayed in Europe through the rest of the month. The weather was really spectacular. There was only one day of rain, and that was for our drive from Zürich to Cernobbio (Lake Como, Italy). I chose mid-Sept, because it would be less crowded after the big August vacation rush, and the weather would still be warm enough to enjoy the experience.

Plenty of power... seriously. 315HP with 330 LB FT Torque. In sport mode, this baby can really move. I was shocked at how fast the car is, and how quickly it accelerates considering mine is an F02 with all the packages -- it's a little heavier than stock, but can boogie. Love it.

The dealer I was talking to said you need the 750 not the 740. Too big of a car to not go with the 750...salesman

In my original analysis, the 400hp seemed like overkill (this coming from a guy with a 414hp E93 M3). In my 740, I can cover 65 more miles on a tank of gas (highway) than I'd have been able to in a 750. The 740 is lighter and more fuel efficient, while remaining plenty powerful. Makes all the difference in the world to me.

Thanks! Had a blast in Europe. I'm now ruined -- won't buy another car right off the dealer lot again. European Delivery is the only way to go!
