can someone help me car is not recognizing my ipod....

Some more information would help. Like:
- what model iPod do you have ?
- What cable do you use when you try to connect your ipod to your car ?

i probably have like the first generation ipod touch and i use the ipod usb,its charging but nothing happens when i go to external devices.... help please
