Newest BMW 7-series spypic reveals more flowing shape

Here is a single profile photo of the upcoming 7-series which shows both the standard 7 and the long wheelbase version.

It is true that over the years, the current 7-series went from ugly duckingling to pioneer, with many industry leaders eventually copying the infamous bangle-butt. But flattery aside, it is evident that BMW will not repeat that design language and is moving into a more flowing type of design.

Many industry reports have already signaled the front end design of the new 7-series will follow the BMW CS design presented in Shanghai, but now we get an idea of what the rest of the car will look like. It will retain the current 7-series form, in a smoothed out version. The pillars are relatively thinner and more sloped, the C-pillar appears to flow into the trunk deck more freely, which is itself more integraded into the body by being a bit longer.

I think this will look good in the end when all the camo is off.

Everyone seems to complain about the looks of the current 7er. I must be strange, I'm only 22 and I find the "old mans car" to be a sexy piece of machinery.

I also must say BMWs camouflage has seem to have improved. On this car and on the camouflaged next gen 5 series it gives you very little on how the car will look. I guess the shell of the car is not very important though and very changeable. They are mostly just testing engine, frame new systems etc...

It'll look great when the camo's off. It won't look anything like the current 7...the camo's just trying to fool you.

Ok people....time to make up our minds....is it a 7 (more likely) or a 5?
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99714

Same exact cross bar on the rear, same camo on the door & hood, same ugly ass orange reflector tape on the mirror, etc...

PS - Surprised no one commented on this already.

EDIT - And I know the taillights are a bit different, and the gas door, but if the 5 & 7 are going to look THAT much alike....

No, it's fine really. The camo just does a really good job of covering the looks is all. They'll look completely different.

everyone always think the spies are ugly but once the real thing comes out we all agree on it being nice. i have no doubt that the 7 series will be nicer than what it is.. and if its a big change its something that the eyes just need getting used 2. i think bmw knows what its doing

Woah seriously? I sat in an 07 S550 and then sat in my friend's 750i. Why do you like the 7er more?

well, my father owns a S550, and his friend has a 750. she bought it a week after he got the S550 and he regrets buying it. i drove both, and the S550 has no personality. surprisingly, the 750 had alot more kick to it. so from a drivers perspective, the 7er is more to my taste.

Style wise, i dont like the S550, it copies the Maybach(sp?) too much and i dont find anything special about it. the 7er just looks sexier to me.

When it comes to the interior, i just dont like the S class. i dont think it was as tasteful as the 7er. plus, the backseats were... satisfactory. however, the 7er is really made to seat 4, hence the bulge in the rear mid seat. when i sat down in the back of the 7er, i felt like i had more than enough space, and the seats cushioned my entire body and i had no problem being in it for a 2 hour trip. sitting in the back of the S class for 2 hours, i felt claustrophobic, and wasnt nearly as comfy as the 7er. ive spent a great deal of time in both, and i can say with confidence (as well as my father) that the BMW 7er takes the cake.

trust me. everytime i talk to my dad about it, i laugh at him for not listening to me. he considers it as one of the biggest mistakes he has made in purchasing a car. he feels like an old man in it lol. i want him to get an M5 in 2 years, but the way the real estate market is going, he wont be buying anything for the next 3 years.

cheers
