Rocky stay away from all of the N63 models, they had issues with oil leaks, injectors, and even more major valvetrain work. The newer N63tu motors do not have these issues as it seems BMW has revised the engine and fix them. This is directly from my BMW tech who services my Alpina and my M6. My advice is go for a clean 2013 750 and if your budget allows it then go for the Alpina. I would avoid the 2011 or 2012 Alpina or 7.

Wow, thanks for the info. That kind of sucks to hear that since I was hoping to pickup a 2011 or 2012 and save a little $$$. I appreciate the advice but this is coming from one mechanic so I think a little more research is needed. The 2013 are very new so how will they know if it's "fixed" I guess my next step is check out the internet about the N63 having issues...this would provide proof to what your mechanic is saying.

The 2013 is based on the N63tu engine with all the same fixes as the series car

Car and Driver and Road and Track complain about an initial throttle lag which I guess does exist. Then again the trans is programmed to avoid a jerky takeoff so I wonder how much is that. In sport mode with sport trans it is a rocket ship very stealthy and very fast. The ride and quiet comfortable cabin make it first rate and it brings questions and stares everywhere it goes. Overall the 7 series and especially the B7 is an amazing long distance freeway traveller and a great place to be after a long tiring work day stuck in rush hour traffic. This is no M car and nothing even like an Msport 7. More luxurious and much more refined than the regular series car. It feels more of a single unit.

Good to hear...

I'm looking for that.. " A comfortable car, luxurious refined office on wheels with some a smooth kick" .... I own a viper for my weekend "fun" car so speed and big performance is not my goal .

I'm looking for a car that would be my daily driver ( I do not have a long commute to work) and I want something VERY comfortable but with style and all the goodies. I also want something that has some balls when it needs it. IT sounds like the B7 is hitting most of those check boxes..

Are there any other sites/forums that has more owner experiences? I'm not finding many people talking about them and I guess that's due to the small amount of them out there.

Yes unfortunately they are quite rare and most owners are not enthusiasts but rather 'well heeled' people who probably don't subscribe to forums. I just knew the brand and was looking for something more special than the garden variety 750ix

Thanks it is quite a special ride and boy does it eat up freeway miles with ease. It will hang with many cars on the freeway basically loafing along at 140

These are the Alpina 19 inch Dynamic snow wheels. They can be ordered by an Alpina dealer and in the US from any authorized center. However they do not come as a complete package and have to be ordered in parts including the TPMS and the centers and valve stems and tires.

I love the versatility of a SUV especially for Michigan winters. The combination of the X5M and a big drive sedan truly are the best of both worlds. The Alpina is so quiet and effortless, it makes my 100 mile daily commute tolerable. Looking forward to the new audio system and the technology. Thank you all, will post new pictures when the car is delivered.
