i read in the manual, the angel eyes uses H8 bulbs 35watts.

so does this mean we can buy bulbs like piaa and have whiter angel eyes? this is my first bimmer so i have no idea how the electronics on this car works, quite concerned it might throw some error codes.

Yeah, as long as you keep to the same wattage you won't get error messages. Don't try the LED route though, the F01/02 don't like them.

Unless the LED module was specifically designed to replace the light bulb used in the F01/02 or you need to use a bypass resistor large enough to draw enough power for the detection circuitry to think the bulb is fine. Personally I don't like this approach since it defeats the purpose of using LEDs that are more efficient than regular light bulbs. In addition those bypass resistors would get quite hot and need to have sufficient cooling!

I tried the ones I had bought for my E70 (the F01 purchase was a spur of the moment decision). They worked fine for the angel eyes then self, but the "eybrows" were flashing in an alternating fashion a bit like a police car. The ballasts certainly do heat up.

If you look at this post http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=415604
You will know how hard we have tried. LOL.
We basically will try anything to get the same brightness as the new 2011 3 and 5 series.
Just don't understand why stupid bmw won't do the LED Angel Eyes on our flagship models.

Just posted on Bimmerfest but figured I'd repost it here too:

Has anyone tried using the Lux H8 that's designed for the 2009+ 3 series? When 3 series owners tried to match the new LED corona rings we ran into a lot of the same problems with the same bulbs you've tried. The Lux H8 is the 3rd or 4th revision of a fantastic product and seems to light brightly and evenly, even through the second halo. I'd be curious to see if it fits in the 7 series, it is a H8 bulb. I'm hoping to take delivery of an M-Sport 750Li later this week and this will be my first mod for sure if it works. . .

HID's

pure white
run cooler than halogen
less wattage/more brightness
and - this particular setup should give NO ERRORS
