Great news: 2011 BMW Alpina B7
I have to admit that I have the biggest soft spot for Alpina vehicles. I was estatic when the Z8 was sold in Alpina trim in the US (well except for the slushbox). I was even more excited when the previous generation 7-Series was sold in Alpina B7 trim. The sheer power and style of this car, combined with the rarity in the USA combine to make a droolworthy vehicle on every level. Now its back in F01/F02 trim. The car will make its official debut at the 2010 Chicago Autoshow (February) as the 2011 BMW Alpina B7. Pushing the beast is a twin-turbocharged and direct-injected 4.4-liter V8 pumping out 500 horsepower and and 516 pound-feet of torque. To compensate for the extra pushing power Alpina has equipped the car with a lowered ride height (0.6" F / 0.4" R) and added wider rubber (245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear) on 21" Alpina Classic wheels. Aerodynamics complete the exterior package and help to reduce front and rear life by 30 percent and 15 percent respectively. What can't be quantified on the internet is the interior that comes on a car like this. The combination of plush materials and beautiful color scheme gives the car an inviting interior appeal that makes the driver want to take the long way home every time. If this car arrives at a dealership near you, do yourself a favor and just sit in the car for a few minutes to really appreciate it. great car, but the gold stripes / alpina prints and the wheels are not really fitting the car, makes it look "pimp" and a bit cheap (especially the gold)
Just my opinion though |

Theres no car i have more respect for than the Alpina B7. The interior is unrivaled, i didnt want to leave the car. And those rims look so sick on the 7 series. it works because the spokes are long and push out until the end, its a very large, and powerful look - thats the message they are trying to get across. It definitely works, at least for the design concept and what they are trying to express in that aspect.

I like the idea of the B7 however I don't like the B7's front bumper modification. In contrast, the BMW M-Sport package for the F01/F02 actually is a different front and rear bumper vs. the B7 has what looks like a clipped on piece of plastic on the lower front bumper. So it basically just sits on top of a standard bumper and because of that, it sticks out on the lower left and right corners! The rear with it's quad exhaust looks nice and is a replacement for the insert in the standard F01/F02 rear bumper but still doesn't look as cool or as nice as the quad exhaust of the 760 (IMHO)!!!
