Diesel variant has mpg more efficiency across the board using xDrive vs the hybrid's RWD layout. The diesel will cost less to fuel and I believe it holds an extra gallon to extend the overall range. Living in the northeast myself, the diesel would get my vote (plus it's slightly less expensive). We have one I stock at my dealership in PA, love it.

Love my activehybrid, although my big gripe is the stall you have before acceleration from stop. Pretty annoying during stop and go traffic. Mine is a 2011 so it may have changed, although, the 2011 was a 750 plus a hybrid additional engine, which makes it unbelievably fast.
