Made "lattice" out of PVC trim pieces and stainless marine screws. Apparently, according to wife, there were no good pre-made lattice patterns she liked. (Yes, we fixed that caulk after we took the picture.)

Some of the joints aren't quite to my 100% liking, but I can be a perfectionist. A little putty/filler and all will be well. What I hate more than trim work is painting trim. Right now, I just need to touch up a few places w/ some putty and touch-up paint...except the powder room. It's like I never caulked at all despite having done so twice. Then on to the master bath...

Having a nail gun made installing it all go much easier. On that note....picked up this a little bit ago.

There would only be one thing worse than installing trim molding and that would be installing trim molding without a finish nailer.

Now you need to build a deck so you can buy a finish nailer. Those are loads of fun!

Speaking of, i have to decide to either strip and install new decking material at a rental or pay someone..... I'm leaning towards paying. But if we go the composite decking route, i think i'm going to be on the hook for the labor.

HAH! I did this in the house up north. Look into glass balusters. They are epic and way less costly than custom full-panel tempered glass. I actually think they looked better too. That deck was 50ft by 16ft and was 10ft off the ground. 100% of labor was done by me and my wife. It was a lot of work, but no hard work. And the project paid for all sorts of nice new tools - 12? compound miter saw, nice screw/drill driver.

This deck is ground level, so no railing. 1 step down on all sides. And i already have the tools. That's why i'd be on the hook if we got the more expensive materials.

I knew it was going to be tough to outperform my beloved Nike Covert Tour so I went to a proper clubfitter to speed up the process. The winning combo was Veylix's crazy color-shifting "Arcane" shaft with a 8.5* TaylorMade M1 430 head. Gained about 12 yards with tighter dispersion. This setup wasn't cheap (well over $1k) but this stick rocks! Loving it!

I have a 16ga nail gun, too. Not that it's seen use yet, but...ya know. At least it is safe to post these type of projectile devices.

Heh. Actually, yes, they did from time to time. That picture was early morning, so they were covered with dew. Normally, they were super clear. So we did have a bird incident or two.

Yes. I have the upright Miele. Don't remember the model, because I'm a man. Infinitely better thank Dyson (I had a couple before) and mainstream ones.

Better is a pretty broad term. In what ways is it better than other vacuums?

We also have a Miele. Callisto model. It is better to me because it is the only vacuum we've had my wife doesn't complain about. It is very easy to move around - better form / size and much lighter than a more expensive Electrolux we had previously. It doesn't beat the shit out of carpet / rugs and works very well on carpeting, area rugs, tile and wood (different nozzle for rug vs tile / wood). Finally, I also like that we bought it from a dealer 5 minutes away so if something breaks on it or we need bags, it is a simple errand to resolve. We haven't had a Dyson so I can't compare to one.

Sucks, big time. Also, maintains suction through out fill. Sturdy construction - no breaking plastics. Excellent lighted deck, helps you see stuff. Great with dog hair. Literally, each and every aspect mentioned is to a greater extent than Dyson.

Have you tried robotic vacuums? I own a Neato XV-21. So awesome!

We have not. I've brought it up a few times but my wife is skeptical due to 2 dogs in the house. She thinks she'd need to empty them too frequently and the dogs wouldn't like them. So I haven't pushed to spend the money on one.

I would definitely give it a try at least, my friend's dogs were very curious about it at first, but after few days left it alone. It's a huge time saver.
