Let's talk office chairs...

I have a generic office depot one but about to order a Herman Miller Embody. Chair shopping got me wondering if anyone else invested in a high quality chair for their office . So what type of chair is everyone using at work?

The one I'm ordering:

I had a generic one (that was not cheap) and it sucked. I spend a fair amount of time in this damn chair, so I got a couple of Aerons for the home office(s). Worth every cent. Adjustability, comfort, economics, also seems quite durable.

Ive actually been comparing the Aeron to the Embody. I sat in both in the store the other day and the embody just appealed more to me. How long have y'all had the aeron and how has it held up so far? Im in finance so I spend 8+hrs a day in front a computer screen so I need a comfortable chair.

Mine is a couple of years old and it was pricey but this thing is worth every penny even though I did not pay for it, My boss gave it to me as a gift.

The one I have is cloth and I love it. I have managed groups of medical clinics for almost 20 years and i can tell you that office chairs are one of those things where you get what you pay for. the only downside to nice chairs like this is that they are heavy as shit so think about where it will be used.

I actually just recently replaced my chair at home. Since I started working from home full time I found my old chair was giving me a lot of back pain. I had one of those big cushy chairs like pictured above.

I looked at a bunch of chairs online and then went to the store and sat in a bunch of them. Now I'm cheap so I'm not spending $1000 on a chair so this is my budget recommendation. I ended up getting this one at staples:

It's been great so far definitely got rid of my back pain. I was a bit skeptical about these mesh chairs however I am very impressed. Not only does it have good support, but one thing I didn't realize about the mesh is how it keeps cool! It's like having an AC on my back and butt it's amazing.

Yeah those are decent, the problem is the durability, especially if the user is heavy.

Even in my home office I have a generic Staples leather that was given by the neighbor who moved.

They are a status symbol and can motivate jr's in the office to try to achieve and work longer hours. If you work from home, who would see a $1,000+ chair except when you are on video conferences...not spending $1k at home imho is not being cheap, it's being practical.

I love the Aerons. But my current company is too cheap to spring for one.

The only downside is when you rip a fart...the fucker comes right back up and hits you. No cushion to absorb it.

I've got an Aeron, and hate it.
The adjustments are mediocre, the back leans too far backward and has too much lumbar intrusion, and the fabric is not nearly as comfortable as thermal foam - it's like your butt is on a taut canvas hammock.
Also, be aware that their standard size is actually quite narrow, with hard edges on the seat.

There are literally hundreds of these at Beverly Hills bmw... Last time I bought a car from them, I asked if they could throw one in the trunk... But all the sales / receptionists / finance department have them...

Sadly, they did not throw one in for me...

We should burn it down, then.

They're going down on their own... Employees are fleeing like rats jumping from a sinking ship... It's the parent company (sonic automotive) that's so terrible... If my service guy leaves though, I dunno what I'm going to do... I can't even begin to tell you how much money he's saved me over the years or how much he hooks it up...

Perhaps he will travel to another BMW dealership. Isn't there like, 1 every 0.5 miles in Socal?

Tis true... Probably 5 in a 20 mile radius, i'm not even kidding... But I think he's burnt out... When i went to go pick up my car, he told me that he passed out in his office, woke up at 1am... Decided it was pointless to drive an hour + home and then drive back an hour + at 5am, so he went downstairs to the delivery section, crawled into the backseat of a new 7 series, set his alarm, woke up, went to the employee area, took a shower and then went back to his desk... Such a great guy, they run them all ragged though... In the past couple of months, they lost 4 SA's...
