I've had this privilege of seeing this vehicle un-camouflaged and it truly is a stunning car.

2019 M8 Coupe:

+ AWD M xDrive System
+ 600hp
-- ZF 8spd Auto
+ Good utility
++ Best looking out of all current BMW's
- Big chassis
--- Heavy Chassis: ~4,200lbs
++ Loads of Tech
---- With options: ~$150,000 USD

Versus:

2019 Aston Martin Vantage
+ RWD
+++ Killer Looks
-- Not much utility
++++ 7 Speed Manual Transmission Option
+++ Exceptional light curb weight: ~3,300lbs
-/+ Small Chassis
- Average Tech
+ Tuned AMG Engine by Aston Martin with 500hp
- With options: ~$160,000 USD

The Aston will definitely do much better in retaining value if both cars are driven the same mileage per year. Oh well, Aston it is then.
the aston is ugly and its not special if it uses an amg engine.. if it was a v12 then maybe but nah looks like a mazda mx5 with a kia influences.

M8 is just a beautilful MONSTER and thats even with the camo on the car. imagine what it would really look like.
You are incorrect sir. I saw the new Aston Vantage in person this past weekend and it is absolutely gorgeous. No doubt that the new M8 is going to look great too, but the new Vantage has that mystique design about it that is quintessentially daring.

While it will be a stunning looking car, I'm still bummed it won't look like the concept. I love the front of that thing.

You're kidding right?

Of course it'll be larger.

Please tell me you're joking.

The side view had a similar profile but larger. The concepts looked great but the side view of the production car was underwhelming. Like I said, maybe it's just the camo to my eyes.

Dear god, you don't get it.

Of course it'll be larger then an A5/S5.

It's an 8 Series. NOT a 4 series.

You don't get it. I'm well aware it'll be bigger. My comment is that the look resembles a car that premiered 10 years ago and already is dated and underwhelming compared to the concept.

Spot on... new Vantage is sexy (especially in person). Really a special car and the sound is lovely. Can't imagine the M8 competing for my dollars at this price point.

It also has a «mystic» quality, among numerous issues with the transmission. It's so bad that the brit is laughing at it

If I had the money to buy either one of these, I'd take the Aston simply based on the fact that it's 900lbs lighter - assuming the specs quoted in this thread are correct.

I've never understood this about BMW. Concepts are typically stunning [minus that X7 disaster]. Why do they dumb down the production model from the concept? Not even talking about material, but a lot of it is just stamping out metal which won't cost a difference.

2 totally different cars. That's like comparing a S65 coupe to a Huracan. Similar price yet 2 totally different experiences and different drivers.

Different cars I agree.

But they actually might be the same buyers.

does weight really matter in a car like this?
