will try and take some over the weekend, light carpet has never been mentioned by anyone grrrrrggh!

Everyone is different and the internet does not allow one to always gauge how things are meant or received so wanted to check! Agree, for the sake of world peace we'll have to maintain good ties

Heh, I imagine that they are called 'black' and 'blue' and the two workers are not allowed to work or meet at the same time or they'll be all black and blue

Likely they just overspray in the paint booth by accident and then go 'well I'll be damned, look at that Hans...wouldn't that be a good new shade of unobtainium black? To which Hans says 'Ja, let Mr. Individual try to replicate that! Let's tell the Englanders first and then someone will order it so Mr. Individual has to do it!'

Saw it in the parking lot and sent him the pictures as it looked amazing, had quite a bit of carbon stuff on it as well. A few weeks later it was in his driveway. He'd been talking about changing his car, maybe an M2 but for quite a long time. However just took seeing that one in person and he was sold instantly.
Heh, note to self: accept no incoming texts or PM's from FLJB when he is at the BMW dealer, could be very detrimental to bank balance!

They apparently don't do the 7 day free BMW insurance anymore either which is a shame. I was hoping to use that to then see if it fits nicely in the garage before getting something arranged myself. Now I'll likely have to insure it as parked on the driveway just incase and change it up afterwards if it does go in.
One side of me would love for the updates to be that it is at the dealer...I can see you camped out at the dealer watching the car and movements like a hawk in those two weeks off! Enjoy the break, hope the weather is decent for you lot up North!

Wasn't aware that they stopped the free insurance, didn't need it myself but can see the logic and usefulness of it in your situation as the insurance will want to charge some silly admin fee to change it and you only need a check...just a thought...did you consider 'test driving' the 760 again from your dealer and then using the remote parking to see if it will go in up to the wing mirrors? Then you'd know and could get the right policy from the start and save the hassle? You'd need to be careful but to be honest the sensors will stop it before it would hit anything likely anyway and you'd be able to tell if it will go in remotely or not...Given the wait, surely your dealer would let you have it for an hour to check that?

Excellent...looking forward to them, anything to help stoke the anticipation fire for FastLaneJB...

By the way: nice light carpet tyzer! Is that a new feature on the 7?

That kind of is my plan only the clearing of the garage is behind schedule a bit. Off work next week but would need to sort it plus get it off his hands for a few hours. Doesn't have to be that one to be far, just a 7 series with remote parking. SWB won't make any difference as I've got the length, it's just the width which might not work. Shall see what I can do because as you say be much better to just simply check this first.

Indeed, not too long to go now hopefully.

I saw that video and was going to post it but you beat me to it Bit of a weird drag race and obviously bike was going to win but the car still puts in a good time.

Yeah the colour is good, looks great in person. Shows the market for the 7 though as they only offer business man suitable shades as standard. You get some more varied choice on their lower models normally without having to delve into the Individual selection.

Just chased it now and it's still at released to carrier. Apparently though the USS Gerald R. Ford should be docking soon which is just big enough to fit it onboard

Was in the dealers today to get my M5 serviced and have 4mm left on the rears so I'll have to fix that

Anyway to answer the remote parking in a UK sized width garage (2250mm) mystery he's lent me a 740d xDrive with the option. It's a short wheel base but length wasn't the concern with the width...

Well the answer is in and computer says no. Either reversing or forwards it won't do it. Your supposed to go in forwards for remote parking because it'll steer in this mode. Can see it turning the wheels to line up but it's not happy.

Even after I've driven it in myself and then back out so it's perfectly aligned it'll slam on the anchors as it gets to the opening. So seems my car is going to be destined to live on the driveway. Bummer.

Sorry to hear that, thought it might be the case though, likely as by the time the sensors notice something and decide how to react it needs time = space otherwise it could hit...I’ve always been curious about the size of the U.K. storage sheds oops, i mean garages. Not a car since the 70’s that will fit in them really. (At least new build ones from the 90’s onwards I’ve seen)

I wasn't too hopeful either to be honest because the manual mentions bigger tolerances needed but had to try. What I wouldn't give for a US / Canadian sized garage but hey ho.

Yeah my property is around 6 years old so garage just isn't big enough. In fairness the guy over the road parks his M2 in his garage every night so they are fine for those width cars.

Well, you could view it as an opportunity to make an exec lounge and extend the garage to fit the car and have a couple of plush arm chairs, beer fridge and other man cave bits for when visiting dignitaries (fellow 7 owners) temporarily moor their land yachts in the area?

Your forgetting that we are in the UK. We don't get a land mass the size of Wales for our gardens here either. However I like your idea.

Your a parking genius though. Maybe I'll have to pay you to park it in the garage, then live in the garage because you won't be able to get out easily before reversing it back out when I need it. I can pay in cash so black market with no tax as your benefit. Also means I can pay below the minimum wage because all my money is going to Shell I'm afraid.

We knocked our garage down to extend as it was not use for anything but when we next move I’m definitely aiming for a double garage! Not just for parking but for a nice little workshop. Maybe even a triple?!

No, I assure you that I can't forget that...every time I look out the window I know I am in the UK (well, once the snow melted I did! )

An almost irresistible offer...Getting to drive the 760...would I get a uniform and hat? That could seal the deal? I assume Mr and Mrs FLJB will be seating in the rear of the vehicle and you've already shown that jnr. will be in the boot...so just leaves the passenger seat for your other child? (think you said you have two?) So, works out all round really!

You may be able to use your shell points to get them to build a garage onsite for you to nest in, in between fuelling sessions?

Completely with you on this point...double garage (and proper double sized so two cars parked inside, room to walk around them, connecting door to the house, space to have a bench and workshop and electric up and overs...God that would be nice...Please don't post any pictures of such a thing though or FastLaneJB and I will have to come around and key your car!

Would be very nice to have, would take up the footprint of most houses here in the UK though so expensive for plot prices if you plan to put a house there as well!

If it makes you feel any better FastLaneJB , this was the scene that greeted me at 4:30 Monday morning...at least you didn't have to deal with that on the new Blue...

Although it may have been entirely more exciting with 2 wheel drive M5 on the roads Sunday / Monday....

Hope 325_bucks didn't have to drive his in the snow too much just having got it and still getting to know her!

tyzer did you happen to get any pics of yours over the weekend to tease FLJB...time is getting tight, need to ramp this up a bit!

You can have a uniform mate... I'll take it out of your first 4 months wages

You can get a plot of land for a reasonable price to cover that in fairness. It'll just be in up in the north of Scotland so it'll be a bit of a commute to London

Indeed. Having a reasonable double garage was on my list last time we moved but we also wanted a new house... seems they hardly build them like that anymore. At least in the price range we had back then.

Have your people send my people the offer letter and we'll see!

Yeah, I'm glad that we have secure off street parking on a new housing estate (we bought just under 3 years ago) and would have loved a garage (they had some with them) but they were all far too skinny (plenty long enough). I will extend the paved pad area, move the shed back and change the gates to be just two big gates (looking to see if I can get them electric as well so I can use the universal remote control on the car) so I can finally park without the fear of god in me. (and consider a G12 next!)

I do love the house, very, very efficient eco house and love the contrast of having the 7 out back...get some looks from the (humour alert here 'long haired, dope smoking, friends of Jesus, tree huggers' contingent but that's just how the Gangsta Princess rolls

I am starting to wonder if you have actually ordered a car FastLaneJB! Never seen the like, dragging your heels at every opportunity to move this along...honestly!

Well at least your doing your bit I guess with the eco house

Chased today and it's EU Port of Exit now. So hopefully be in the UK by tomorrow. Arranged with the dealer that if it's ready in time to get it next Thursday, if not it'll have to be the Tuesday week after as I'm away for the 4 days of Easter.

Finally should be with me soon

That's great news FastLaneJB , will keep fingers crossed for you, you've been waiting a while!

Not sure I'll be able to keep my envy in check but hope it comes soon and can be ready in time for your plans and time off.

Safe travels.

Well I'll have to make sure I work from home if it's the Tuesday in April then take a long lunch

Thursday would be good, get to have a go with it before I go away for a long weekend. It'll be one of those situations where I'll be wanting to get back home again rather than stay away.

It's still at the EU Port of Exit when I checked this morning. Seems pretty much impossible I'll be able to get it this Thursday then, shame.

Sorry to hear that, hope it gets sorted soon for you, can’t be long after Easter in any case. The wait will be well worth it I’m sure!

Enjoy your break over the long weekend.
