Neat!

Is a real M7 forthcoming?

Also, what's going on with the 6 Series? Discontinued or not? And if discontinued, 8 Series replacing it?

Thanks again!

It was posted earlier. The release version will be coming soon so this shouldn't be taken in stone.

No M7 this generation. 6 will re-materialize in a different position (on the new sports car chassis). 4er is too close from the bottom, the current GC was cannibalizing 7er sales. and the coupe/Conv are just too expensive. 8er will be more appropriate and right sized/equipped.

Yup pretty much spot on.
Things will most likely change pretty drastically throughout the model lineup this time around it will be interesting to see!

So the 4 Series was too close to the 6 Series and the 6 Series GC was too close to the 7 Series? Therefore, an 8 Series will be positioned above the 6 Series being retired?

So what's left for the new 6 Series? Mention of being on a new 'sports car chassis' doesn't sound in-line with it being the 5 Series GT replacement as rumored.

Don't know why BMW can't do a proper 1/3/5/7 Sedan/Touring and 2/4/6/8 Coupe/Convertible lineup. Mercedes is about to have a full C/E/S Coupe/Convertible lineup, along with the traditional Sedans and Wagons.

Based upon what's stated, sounds like the new 6 Series will in fact be a new Z6, which is just convoluted. Am I wrong? :|

the 6 series is supposed to be moved down into the Sport Gran touring car AKA the 911 fighter, the AMG GTS fighter and so on. The Z5 will be the Mercedes SL competitor and the 8 series is supposed to be the S class coupe competitor
Bout as simple as I can make it.
All scheduled to change as needed

Thanks, but the 911 and AMG GT are in the same class as the current 6 Series, and many would even say the Porsche and Mercedes are of a higher class. If the 6 Series is 'moved down', it certainly wouldn't be on par with the 911 or AMG GT (6 Series GT being even less so). And if the Toyota co-developed Z5 is slated to be an SL competitor, something is so very wrong! Who's in charge of such madness!? :/

Since you're both close to the company, please convey that a 5 Series based 6 Series Coupe and Convertible should combat the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, a 7 Series based 8 Series Coupe should verse the S-Class Coupe and forthcoming Lexus LC 500 (and possibly even the Panamera based Coupe), and a Z8 Roadster should fight the SL, AMG GT and 911. And, any 'Z5' should absolutely be named Z4 and stick to SLC and Boxster territory.

Last, a 6 Series GT makes sense if only to slot between the A7/S7 and Panamera, like the CLS. Am I wrong?

No wonder BMW is lagging; confusing and unclear segmentation and nomenclature. The non-M "M Performance" cars (M240i, M550i, M760i, etc.) are also nonsense. What was wrong with M Sport Packages on non-M cars? Hilarious the 'luxury' M760i is named the "V12 Excellence" model; What's that supposed to mean!? Anyone's guess. LOL.

What 'Hans Wurst' commented:

"Are you kidding me?! What does this car have to do with the 6 series?!"

http://www.motor1.com/news/128901/bmw-6-series-gt-spy/

5 Series GT becoming the 6 Series GT is a mistake.
